Haeundae Station bakery for KTX dinner: salt bread, Low & Sweet
In short
Low & Sweet Bakery is a bakery café at the start of Haeri-dan-gil, right in front of Haeundae Station in Busan. After a same-day business trip on a day under a heatwave advisory, the writer picked up an iced americano, salt bread and an egg tart from Low & Sweet Bakery to go and ate them as dinner on the KTX back to Seoul. Thanks to butter-packed salt bread and an egg tart with no eggy smell, a makeshift train dinner became a meal that eased the fatigue of the trip.

A day-trip business visit to Busan in a heatwave: a bakery near Haeundae Station
On the evening I finished a day-trip business visit to Busan, I stopped by Low & Sweet Bakery near Haeundae Station before my KTX to Seoul and took coffee and bread to go. After back-to-back tight meetings and on-site work since the morning, the clock had somehow reached 5pm. The official schedule was over and I could breathe, but the thought of getting home to Seoul felt daunting. Even if I left right away, with transfers I wouldn't be home until well past 10pm.

Of all days, a heatwave advisory had been issued for all of Busan the day I visited, so just standing still made the sweat pour down like rain. After a whole day of tension and sweating buckets, I felt completely drained. I had a little time before the KTX, but I knew I couldn't board a train on an empty stomach. I had no energy left to go far, so I started looking for something to eat near Haeundae Station.
What I wanted most was an iced americano to freeze me from the inside out, plus something sweet. Parched, exhausted and close to collapsing, I spotted Low & Sweet Bakery like a ray of light. In that scorching heat, it was an oasis in the desert.
How close is Low & Sweet Bakery to Haeundae Station?
Low & Sweet Bakery sits right at the very start of Haeri-dan-gil, so you see it as soon as you turn slightly into the alley from Haeundae Station. I opened the map and started walking, and my first thought was that the location is fantastic. For a worn-out pedestrian like me who wanted to walk even one minute less in the heat, it was the perfect spot, and I got there fast without getting lost.

A storefront like a European alley bakery
Being close to the station was great, but the moment I arrived, the charming exterior caught my eye. It looked like a bakery hidden in a quiet European side street, exotic yet warm. The classic wooden door and stylish signboard were enough to stop me in my tracks. Even though I was on a business trip, it made me feel like I was traveling in Busan, a space full of Busan romance.

A showcase full of salt bread and egg tarts
The moment I stepped inside with a fluttering heart, the nutty, sweet smell of butter wrapped around me. In the showcase, golden-brown salt bread and mouthwatering egg tarts were laid out beautifully, almost like they were greeting me.

The look of the freshly baked bread was overwhelming enough to wipe away my business-trip fatigue in one go. I hear Low & Sweet Bakery is already a kind of holy ground for bread lovers hunting for the best egg tarts near Haeundae Station.

What I ordered in a rush for the KTX: iced americano, salt bread, egg tart
Honestly, I wanted to take loads of photos against Low & Sweet Bakery's pretty interior and sit back and relax. But my KTX to Seoul was at a fixed time, so sadly I had to pack up quickly and move on.

Low & Sweet is serious about coffee, even running its own separate roastery, so I really wanted to try the deeply flavored hand drip coffee. But given the time, I ordered the iced americano, which is the quickest to brew.

Then I quickly ordered Low & Sweet Bakery's signature items to go with the coffee: salt bread and egg tart. It has also been quietly gaining buzz lately as a salt bread spot in Haeundae.

Staff who handed a sweaty customer ice water first
While I waited after ordering at Low & Sweet Bakery, I was deeply touched by the staff's thoughtfulness. After working outside all day in the heat, my clothes were soaked with sweat, and I was an obviously exhausted middle-aged guy, so I felt a bit embarrassed.

But the staff welcomed me with bright, friendly smiles, without a hint of annoyance. They even offered ice water first, seeing how thirsty I looked, and that kindness cooled my heart too. Low & Sweet Bakery is also a space with an exotic outdoor terrace and stylish interior.

A cool interior that made me forget the heatwave
The comfortable, cool interior, which made me completely forget the brutal heat outside, was satisfying too. While the air conditioning recharged me, I looked around slowly, and affection for customers was evident in every corner.

Even the chair arrangement and the brightness of the lighting clearly showed care so that visitors could stay as comfortably as possible.

Seeing what looked like regulars chatting comfortably, I fully understood why this city bakery is loved. The display was piled high with yellow, crisp egg tarts.

With a heavy bag of bread and a cold iced americano in my hands, I hurried toward Busan Station, my steps much lighter than when I started. The americano I gulped down to quench my thirst before the train had a perfect balance of acidity and nuttiness, and I could tell the roasting is no ordinary skill. The bittersweet, clean taste of the beans tidied up my mouth and made me look forward to the pairing with the bread even more. The crisp-outside, moist-inside salt bread in the bag kept giving off a nutty butter aroma.
How was the salt bread eaten as dinner on the KTX to Seoul?

I got on the KTX to Seoul safely, and as soon as I sat down, I opened the long-awaited Low & Sweet Bakery bag. I hadn't had a proper dinner and was getting hungry, so my hands were hurried as I took out the bread.

The salt bread I grabbed first was a perfect choice as a dinner substitute on the train. The moment I took a bite, I felt the crispy surface and chewy inside at once, and I couldn't help exclaiming. I immediately understood why travelers go out of their way to visit Low & Sweet Bakery.
What surprised me most was the rich, luxurious butter flavor filling the inside of the bread.

With every bite, a nutty, deep butter aroma spread through my whole mouth, and the salty tang of the salt on top firmly cut the butter's richness. Eating it with the iced americano I'd bought earlier, my tangled thoughts and business-trip fatigue melted away like snow. It was the kind of deep flavor that made me nod and understand why so many people line up for it.

Low & Sweet egg tart: crisp pastry and pudding-like custard
The egg tart from Low & Sweet Bakery that I tried after the salt bread was excellent too. Inside the crisp, layered pastry, it was packed with custard cream as soft as pudding.

The rich, sweet egg flavor melted the moment it hit my mouth and left me happy. It wasn't overly sweet and had none of that eggy smell, so I could finish it cleanly to the last bite. If you're a salt bread fan, I think you'll fall for Low & Sweet's hearty, nutty flavor.
It was a great comfort to end a tiring business trip with such a wonderful bakery. The dinner I'd planned to just get through turned into a happy feast with nothing to envy. I was reminded again how much comfort and happiness good food alone can give a person, and I also thought back to the staff who treated me so kindly that day.

Next trip to Busan: hand drip coffee on the terrace with my wife
It was a short takeout visit to Low & Sweet Bakery, but the lingering feeling it left was much longer and stronger than I expected.

I never imagined that a place I briefly encountered in a hectic day would give me such perfect healing. All through eating the bread on the train, my family's faces kept coming to mind, and I felt almost sorry to enjoy this taste alone. I couldn't stop marveling at how high the quality was, even on the egg tart.

So I made a promise to myself: next time in Busan, not on business but on a proper trip, I'll hold my beloved wife's hand and come back to Low & Sweet Bakery. This time I won't rush out for a train; I want to sit side by side on the lovely outdoor terrace and relax for a long while.

I also plan to slowly enjoy a cup of the signature hand drip coffee that I regretfully missed this time, and get some real rest. I can say it was good enough to be the best salt bread in Haeundae.
