In short
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is a Western-style restaurant in Jongno, Seoul, two minutes on foot from Hyehwa Station Exit 4. I had Rubber Duck Omurice and Omil Steak, then took an easy walk to Marronnier Park. Verdict: a lovely Hyehwa date stop for a cozy meal and a post-dinner stroll.

I stopped by Omil Hyehwa Daehangno, a new Daehangno favorite, because I wanted an easygoing, polished Western-style meal near Hyehwa Station. It was also great for a date at Marronnier Park after eating.
A Daehangno Western-style restaurant near Hyehwa Station
I came here while looking for a Western-style restaurant around Hyehwa Station and Daehangno that would make a nice date stop. It is only two minutes on foot from Exit 4 of Hyehwa Station, so it is very convenient; it is also close to Sungkyunkwan University and Seoul National University Hospital, making it a good meal option for students or anyone in the hospital area. It is easy to head to Marronnier Park after eating, and I had high expectations because the restaurant was known for its Western-style dishes. ❤❤
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno exterior

Above the ground-floor shops, the bright cream awning and orange slogan are the first things that catch your eye. The building has old brick walls, but warm light shines through the large windows, so it stands out even as you walk by.

There is a standee for the signature Rubber Duck Omurice beside the entrance, so you can check the menu before going in. The restaurant is on the second floor, so take the stairs. 😅

Cute interior and seating
Open the yellow arched door and you step into a cozy, warm dining room. Teddy bears, miniatures, ceramic objects, and other little decorations are placed all over the shelves, making lovely photo spots.

There is a good mix of tables for two and four, and it has the kind of atmosphere where lots of couples come for dates. The chairs were comfortable too, so I did not feel sore at all even after sitting for a long time.
From solo seats to tables for two and four, there are lots of seating options to suit your group. Pickled onion pickles, chargers, and water are all available at the self-service bar, which was great for charging my phone before the meal. Just like the salmon steak and gnocchi I had at another branch before, the dishes I tried this time were consistently well made. Delicious, with no branch-to-branch variation, haha.
Rubber Duck goods and review event

When you order the signature omurice,

you can receive a free Rubber Duck bath toy wearing sunglasses.

They are also running an event where writing a review on Naver or Google gets you a coupon for one ade.

Chongchongchong! Rubber Duck Omurice
₩16,900

Fluffy tornado egg wraps savory salmon fried rice. Six adorable ducks made from quail eggs sit on top of the rice, and they were so cute! The mildly spicy curry sauce worked beautifully with the soft omurice. The curry tasted moist and smooth, with a clean, tingling kick that kept it from becoming cloying—it was the kind of addictive flavor that made me keep eating.

The rice was fried rice full of wok hei, with bits of salmon tucked throughout. It was light and nutty.
Omil Steak and fries
Omil Steak is ₩37,900 and comes with fries.
The flat iron steak is cooked sous vide, so it has a light charred aroma on the outside while staying juicy and medium inside.

The rich, slightly tangy red wine sauce brought out the meat's flavor nicely, while grilled shishito peppers and cherry tomatoes kept everything feeling fresh.

The steak also arrived fully cut up, which made it so easy to eat.
Fries

Crispy fries are topped with onion, bacon, and Parmesan cheese. The creamy sauce has a deep bacon flavor and was delicious with the steak.
Tips for enjoying it even more
The Rubber Duck Omurice tastes much better when you pour plenty of curry sauce all over it and eat it with the rice—the seasoning is just right that way.

For Omil Steak, I recommend trying the first bite plain to taste the meat's juices, then dipping the next bites in the red wine sauce. The quail eggs on the Rubber Duck Omurice were so cute that I hated to eat them, but I recommend going in with a spoon!
What to check before visiting
It is best to check the weekday break time (15:15–16:30) and last order time (20:30) before you go. The Rubber Duck giveaway can run out early, so I recommend checking the official announcement before visiting.
How are solo dining and reservations?
With its cute decorations and pretty photo spots, it is exactly the right atmosphere for a date or a get-together with friends. There are two-person bar tables and solo-dining seats by the window, so you can comfortably eat here alone too. The reservation system is well organized, so I recommend reserving your date and time in advance for weekends or peak hours.
A date course continuing to Marronnier Park
Omil Hyehwa Daehangno is centrally located near Hyehwa Station and Daehangno, with excellent access and a charming setting for Western-style food. It was great as a date destination, and after eating, you can take a slow walk to nearby Marronnier Park, so I would recommend it as part of a Daehangno date course too. Plan a meal at this atmospheric restaurant and a wander around Marronnier Park, and you can enjoy Daehangno at a relaxed pace. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a date spot or a casual gathering place.
