When I want something light in Daehak-ro, Sallering Daehak-ro.

There are so many great places to eat around Hyehwa and Daehak-ro, but it is surprisingly not easy to find somewhere for a light, healthy meal. Especially when I have been eating out often lately, I sometimes want to fill up properly with lots of vegetables instead of having another strongly seasoned meal.
So this time, while looking for poke near Hyehwa Station, I visited Sallering Daehak-ro. I used to think of salads as food for when you are dieting, but these days poke and salads come with such a variety of toppings and combinations that they make a proper meal.
Salads and poke, chosen to suit your taste

What I liked about Sallering Daehak-ro was how easy it was to put together a meal to my own taste. Fresh vegetables are paired with a range of ingredients, so it does not feel like you are eating the same flavor all the way through; each ingredient brings a different texture and taste, which made it more enjoyable than I expected.
Poke is especially a good choice for anyone who finds a vegetable-only salad a little lacking. I tend to get hungry quickly if I eat only salad, but a bowl with several ingredients, like poke, was quite filling even afterward. I thought it would also suit anyone looking for a solo lunch around Hyehwa.
Why Sallering Daehak-ro worked well in Daehak-ro

Hyehwa draws lots of people for plays and performances, and perhaps because it is a university area, the restaurant selection is incredibly varied. Filling meals such as pork cutlet, pasta, and grilled meat are great too, but on days when that kind of food feels a little heavy, a clean, simple meal at somewhere like Sallering Daehak-ro is very welcome.
Most of all, I liked that I did not feel overly full or weighed down after the meal. If you have a performance or date planned in Daehak-ro and need to get moving right after eating, this kind of menu may actually be more comfortable.
A low-pressure Hyehwa lunch for one

Personally, I think another advantage of salad and poke specialty restaurants like this is that they are easy to visit alone. There is no need to coordinate a menu with a group—you can choose exactly what you want and sort out a quick, convenient meal.
If you work or study around Daehak-ro, choosing lunch every day can be a real dilemma. On a day when you are craving something a little different from the usual set meal or noodles, this looked like a good place to try. If you have been searching for poke near Hyehwa Station or a solo Hyehwa lunch, it may be worth keeping in mind.
When you are craving a healthy meal in Daehak-ro

These days, I find myself thinking not only about getting full but also about what I have eaten. In that sense, I was satisfied with Sallering Daehak-ro: I could enjoy vegetables and a variety of ingredients all at once, and have a meal without feeling too burdened.
I would recommend it to anyone who wants a light meal before or after a performance or date in Daehak-ro, a neat solo lunch, or simply likes poke or salads. When I am in Hyehwa and crave a clean, refreshing meal rather than something strongly seasoned, I think I will remember it again.
