Yeonnam-dong has so many great-atmosphere cafés that it's genuinely fun just picking which one to try.

This time I wanted good coffee and dessert together, so I stopped by Pip Espresso Bar.

Pip Espresso Bar is walkable from Hongik University Station Exit 3, so it was nice to stroll slowly through the Yeonnam-dong alleys on the way there.

There were plenty of other shops along the route too, so it felt like a casual walk rather than a trek — it'd work well as a meeting spot too.

What the café feels like inside

Walking into Pip Espresso Bar, the wood-toned space had lighting and various props blending in naturally.

The tables and chairs weren't all one style either — they were arranged differently depending on the spot, so you could pick a seat to match your mood.

It felt comfortable whether you're visiting solo for a coffee or sitting down with a friend to chat for a while.

It seemed like a good place to head to after a meal in Yeonnam-dong when you want a dessert café, or to duck into for a rest while wandering the alleys.

What is on the coffee menu at Pip Espresso Bar

Pip Espresso Bar has a range of coffee menu items built around espresso.

There's espresso, macchiato, romano, cappuccino, americano, café latte, plus a few more distinctive options like Pip Coffee, B.I.C., and Ferrero.

I ordered espresso and Pip Coffee that day. The espresso was great for slowly savoring a deep, rich coffee flavor.

It has a different kind of appeal than a light americano you'd usually reach for — worth trying at least once if you like the flavor of coffee itself.

And the Pip Coffee I'd been looking forward to was tasty too. The name alone had me curious, and tasting it, it paired really well with dessert.

How the tiramisu tastes with espresso

Along with the coffee, I picked out a dessert too. This time I went with the tiramisu.

The soft tiramisu was sweet, and it worked really well eaten alongside the coffee.

Taking a sip of the strong espresso and then a bite of tiramisu right after, the two different flavors came together so well I kept going back for more.

Honestly, both the dessert and the coffee were delicious that day, so I left satisfied.

Beyond tiramisu, there's also tiramisu shine muscat, tiramisu banana crumble, macadamia financier, chocolate financier, and plain financier. With so many dessert options, it'd be fun to try something different on every visit.
