I visited Banwoldang Bujasikdang (반월당부자식당) in Banwoldang, Daegu, a Korean restaurant famous for its jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork). It's one of Daegu's well-known Korean spots, with an old-school vibe. I tried the signature oje-bokkeum, which is squid and jeyuk stir-fried together, and the flame-grilled sauce had such a proper smoky flavor that I kept reaching for more.
With group seating and baby chairs, it's a great Banwoldang Korean restaurant for family meals or gatherings. I've packed this post with my visit review, menu recommendations, the interior and everything we were served, so if you're planning a visit, bookmark it!

Banwoldang Bujasikdang is a Korean restaurant right near Banwoldang Station in Jung-gu, Daegu, on Gwandeokjeong-gil. I went for dinner!

It specializes in flame-grilled dishes like jeyuk-bokkeum and seokgalbi (stone-grilled galbi), all with a big smoky flavor, so I went in with high hopes!
Is it good for family meals and groups with its group seating?
There's a spacious group seating area at the back of the restaurant, so it works well for family meals or group dinners. Even in the middle of the dinner rush it was packed with customers. I highly recommend this Banwoldang, Daegu Korean restaurant for family meals and group meals alike.

We also spotted autographs from lots of celebrities on the walls. A second branch, Suseong, has newly opened, so if you're driving, heading there instead of the Banwoldang main branch (which has no parking) might be a good idea.

Side dishes and self-serve ssam greens

The first things to arrive, quickly, after we ordered: the basic side dishes 🍽️

The side dishes were neat and tidy, and this basic spread went really well with the flame-grilled squid and jeyuk!

You can also help yourself to fresh, good-quality ssam greens (leaves for wrapping), so I could load up on greens with my jeyuk-bokkeum, which made me even happier.
Flame-grilled oje-bokkeum for 2: how spicy is the mild level?

The oje-bokkeum for 2 came out quickly after we ordered. 🔥 It combines flame-grilled jeyuk-bokkeum and squid stir-fry, so it's a generous dish.

👏🏻 The smoky aroma hit us the moment it arrived, and it looked mouthwatering. The black rice is a hearty, healthy bowl too, so I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a Korean restaurant near Banwoldang in Daegu!

When you order a main dish at Banwoldang Bujasikdang, cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew) comes standard. 👍🏻 It was packed with tofu and wholesome beans, and eating it alongside the jeyuk-bokkeum was so satisfying.

The trick was eating the plump squid and the good-quality jeyuk, with no gamey smell at all, together in one bite! ✨ We chose the mild level and it wasn't very spicy, which was just right, haha

How to enjoy oje-bokkeum: wrapped in ssam greens
✔️ When you visit Banwoldang Bujasikdang, please do try the ssam greens! Wrapping the jeyuk-bokkeum and squid stir-fry together in the good-quality greens is a real treat.

The sauce itself is so good that even just rice with the sauce was delicious, and having the jeyuk and squid together was a match made in heaven!

The cheonggukjang's deep, savory flavor paired with the umami-rich jeyuk-bokkeum made it a really filling meal.
