Three-floor Dongdaegu brunch café, 11am opening and potato soup: Baut
In short
Baut is a three-floor brunch café with a blue door, a short walk from Exit 2 of Dongdaegu Station in Dong-gu, Daegu. The writer arrived with a child right at the 11am opening, explored the different seating on each floor, and ordered a green onion jambon sandwich, cauliflower potato cream soup, a matcha cream strawberry latte and Baut coffee. Baut's private parking lot makes it an easy brunch stop near Dongdaegu Station, but it has no high chairs, so parents of young children should plan ahead.

Dongdaegu Station brunch café Baut: there's parking, but no high chairs
Baut is a brunch café with a blue door near Dongdaegu Station. Parking: yes. High chairs: no.
My husband's vacation has started!~~~ So we went out for brunch to kick it off in style. Since I had our child with me, we went right at opening time. I'd always wondered about that building with the blue door whenever I walked past, and it turns out it's a brunch café called Baut.
Finding parking near Dongdaegu Station is as hard as finding a needle in a haystack (the Korean saying is "finding Mr. Kim in Seoul"), right? But this place has its own private parking lot, so even on a sweltering day the visit was comfortable. It's been a while since I'd been in such a modern space, so I wandered from the 1st floor to the 3rd and really soaked it all in.
1st floor: convex-lens windows and solid-color accent chairs
The 1st floor is what you find when you push open the blue door right at 11 o'clock sharp. Blue and red solid colors are set up in harmony.

A window with that convex-lens vibe

and you can see a car outside... 🏎️

Blue and red solid colors are set up in harmony. Quite a few people came in right after opening.

Orange accents on the chair legs

Neat square and rectangular tables with solid-color accent chairs. This is where we settled in.

There's a second entrance to the café on the parking lot side. + 🚻 restrooms
2nd floor: seats with outlets that look great for studying
The 2nd floor is an open space with tables for two. Some seats are close to power outlets.

There are tables with a vibe where studying would go smoothly (and there's an outlet nearby) + 🚻 restrooms
3rd floor: pastel traffic-light tables and a group area
The 3rd floor has pastel-toned tables and a group area. There's also a photosynthesis zone with green plants.

The pastel traffic-light table friends were pretty cute all gathered together. The 3rd floor also has a group area.

Baut menu: one item per person
Baut sells not only drinks but also brunch and desserts. The rule is one menu item per person.

Piping hot, fresh out of the oven 🍞
Matcha cream strawberry latte, Baut coffee, cauliflower potato cream soup, green onion jambon sandwich
We ordered four things at Baut that day: a matcha cream strawberry latte, Baut coffee, cauliflower potato cream soup, and a green onion jambon sandwich (jambon is Korean-style sliced ham).

A generous spread. Big-family shot, plus the mom-and-kid shot (MZ shot)

The layered matcha cream strawberry latte. I savored the matcha first, then mixed it all together. The strawberry flavor is strong, so imagine thick strawberry milk with a clean aftertaste.

Baut coffee. A strong latte base with a spoonful of cream, like an einspänner with less cream.

Cauliflower potato cream soup. A thick potato soup with a strong truffle aroma, the kind of restorative dish that makes you feel like you'll grow muscles after one bowl.

Looks like the baguette that comes with the soup was a hit. The kid grabbed it right away.. haha. It's very crispy, so break it into small pieces and have it with the soup and you won't get an upset stomach!

In the green onion jambon sandwich, the green onion dressing plays the role of whole-grain mustard. Tangy and tart. The jambon makes its presence known through texture, and the baguette is very crispy, so chew carefully and watch the roof of your mouth! We split one piece each, and the fullness was very good.

TMI: a very combative meal, finished..

Next time solo, for the cinnamon bun and seasonal salad
This time I tried Baut's brunch, so next time I'll experience Baut with the chocolate almond cinnamon bun and the seasonal salad.. 📝
With tables up to the 3rd floor there's plenty of seating and the mood is calm, so I think it would be even better to visit alone next time (my wish). Honestly, coming with a child, it was a little hard to fully enjoy Baut's atmosphere in many ways..😢
If you're looking for a café near Dongdaegu Station where you don't have to worry about parking, or a place with a wide range from brunch to dessert, Baut is worth a visit. Now, on to properly enjoying the vacation ~~~
