Sincheon-dong lamb skewer restaurant with no gamey smell: Yangbokjeom

I suddenly had a huge craving for lamb skewers, so I went to Yangbokjeom (양복점) near Dongdaegu Station in Daegu with my boyfriend for the first time in a while! I'm sensitive to lamb smell, so picking a lamb skewer place is surprisingly tricky for me, haha. But at Yangbokjeom I happily polished off everything from the thick jumbo skewers to the onmyeon!!!!!! Okay, let's go with the review~

Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch: location, hours and parking

Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch is at 37 Dongbu-ro 30-gil, Dong-gu, Daegu, on the 1st floor, and is open 17:00–01:00 on weekdays and 16:00–01:00 on weekends. Last order is at 00:00, and you can reserve through Naver.

There's no private parking, but you can use a nearby public paid lot! I hear most people use the one across from iM Bank Sincheon 4-dong Branch, so keep that in mind, haha (₩1,300 for the first 30 minutes / ₩600 per additional 10 minutes).

Yangbokjeom is in the eating alley across from Shinsegae Department Store! It's within walking distance of Dongdaegu Station, so it seemed fine to reach by public transport too, haha.

The restaurant is clean overall and the tables are quite roomy, so it's a nice atmosphere for a group having lamb skewers and drinks. This is what the inside looked like! It seemed great for a group night out 🤍 In fact, when I visited there were 2 company dinner groups, so it was pretty noisy 😌

Besides lamb skewers, there were plenty of meal options like lamb ribs, fried rice and onmyeon!

My boyfriend always orders onmyeon when we go for lamb skewers, so of course we got it this time too~ done!

Every table had 4 sauces, including salt, curry and cumin (zira, 쯔란)~ and the curry and cumin are going to be your favorites 🤍 They say people who love sauces get fat... and I'm totally going to get fat,, ^^ lol

Are Yangbokjeom's jumbo skewers okay if you're sensitive to lamb smell?

The 2 servings of jumbo skewers are thick pieces of meat that cook while spinning round and round over the charcoal. Here come the thick jumbo skewers!!!!!!!!!! 🤍 Spinning round and round over the charcoal! Let's cook them nicely. Well, I don't actually do anything, but... haha

Finally ready to eat! Honestly, I can't eat lamb if it has that特有 lamb smell, you know?! But Yangbokjeom's jumbo skewers had no gamey smell at all and were seriously so good!!!!

Jumbo skewers that reminded me of Shanghai's Hen Jiu Yi Qian

The meat was thick and had no gamey smell, so the moment I ate it I thought of lamb skewers in Shanghai!! I once went to Hen Jiu Yi Qian (헌지우이치엔), which used to be famous among Koreans, lol. I put a cooling patch on my forehead and ate there and it was seriously delicious, and Yangbokjeom's jumbo skewers tasted exactly like that time! It's been a while since I was so satisfied with lamb skewers 🤍

I dunked them generously in my favorite curry and cumin, yum 🤍 Even if you're sensitive to lamb smell, definitely give Yangbokjeom a try!! No gamey smell and so tasty, haha.

What does Yangbokjeom's onmyeon taste like?

Yangbokjeom's onmyeon (warm noodle soup) has a spicy broth with a slightly jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) feel and soft noodles, so it was great for cutting through the richness in the middle of the skewers. And the can't-miss onmyeon! We ordered it again, of course... and wow, Yangbokjeom's onmyeon is a hit too!!!!

When you're eating lamb skewers, there comes a point where it starts to feel greasy, right? That's when you need hot broth to wash it all down, lol. And right on time, the onmyeon arrived, ta-da!!

The broth was spicy with a slight jjamppong feel and the noodles were so soft that they just slurped right down, haha. The lamb skewers were delicious, but the onmyeon was seriously delicious too T_T If you go to Yangbokjeom, definitely have the onmyeon!! Totally recommend it 🤍

Yangbokjeom Dongdaegu Station Branch, where I finally crushed lamb skewers properly for the first time in a while! It's even more memorable because even I, so sensitive to lamb smell, ate happily here, haha. Thick jumbo skewers and spicy onmyeon were totally my style!
