Gyeongju skewer bar, Course B thigh skewers & highball: Yakitori Sogi

Yakitori Sogi is a yakitori izakaya at the entrance to the Hwangnam Market alley on Hwangridan-gil in Gyeongju. After a late lunch, the writer and a friend shared Yakitori Sogi's four-skewer Course B (₩19,000) with Kirin draft beer and a Suntory highball, and the tenderloin, neck, heart and thigh skewers were each delicious. Order Course B for a light bite or Course A for a full meal; either way, Yakitori Sogi is a Hwangridan-gil bar with a great atmosphere.

Gyeongju Hwangnidan-gil restaurant with room for luggage: Goyu set

Goyu is a fusion Korean restaurant on Sajeong-ro in the Hwangnidan-gil area of Gyeongju, serving a set menu that pairs cold pork with kale ssambap and gangdoenjang, hanwoo yukhoe buckwheat noodles, and crispy hanwoo bulgogi. Arriving straight from Gyeongju Bus Terminal with a suitcase, we added eggplant gangjeong for 9,000 won and ended up with nearly three portions, and the wide gaps between tables left plenty of space for luggage. For two people, Goyu's set is best with the eggplant gangjeong swapped in for the bulgogi.
