Paju Chinese restaurant opening run: medium stone jjamppong for two
In short
Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch is a stone-plate Chinese restaurant on Dolgotji-gil below Simhaksan in Paju, Gyeonggi. Arriving right at opening on a weekday, two of us ordered the medium stone jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and handmade donchitang set for 42,000 won, stirring the noodles with bean sprouts on the sizzling stone plate and scraping up the nurungji (crisped rice) left at the bottom. Two women could not finish the medium set, and with unlimited rice refills and a wide free parking lot, Dolpanseok Jjamppong suits a family meal too.

I visited near Simhaksan in Paju last week. There's a Chinese restaurant that's been rising as a must-try spot near Paju Simhaksan lately, apparently — you can enjoy jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and nurungji together on a super hot stone plate. Here's my visit review of Dolpanseok Jjamppong Paju Simhaksan Branch!

Finding the restaurant and where to park

This is the building exterior of Dolpanseok Jjamppong, a must-try spot near Paju Simhaksan. Clean exterior with a huge sign hanging up, so it's very visible even from far away. It's a standalone building for Dolpanseok Jjamppong, and there are all kinds of restaurants around it.

For parking, you just park in the large lot in front of the store. I did an opening run on a weekday and there were already quite a few cars, right? Went in full of anticipation.
Inside: partition booths and highchairs

Here's the interior. Quite a lot of people even for a weekday morning, right? Opening is at 11, so everyone seemed to be here for an early lunch. Clean, and lots of tables set up.

Chinese restaurants get a lot of customers with kids, right? Of course there were highchairs ready. The seats divided by partitions were nice and private. Overall it's clean and has plenty of seating, so it'd be great for family meals, gatherings, or company dinners with several people. It's also really close to Paju Lotte Outlet, so it's perfect to stop by after outlet shopping for a meal!!

On one side there's a self-serve corner for extra side dishes, and get this — rice refills are unlimited too! With prices these days, unlimited rice too — such a generous restaurant.
Menu prices and the Naver review event

Ordering is done via the kiosk on each table — you can order and pay right there!

Set menus, main menu, single-person menu, fried items, add-ons — samgye haemul nurungjitang (chicken seafood scorched-rice soup), stone-plate jjamppong, stone-plate jjajang, donchitang, ttungbosha, and more. Since these dishes are served on a stone plate, it felt a bit different from a typical Chinese restaurant menu.

They're also running a Naver review event. You get a free handmade fruit ade worth ₩5,000, no less!! Might as well participate and enjoy a delicious drink too, right?

They brought out the basic side dishes. There's kimchi at the self-serve bar too, so grab more if you need it.

How to eat stone jjamppong: bean sprouts first, nurungji last
First, how to eat stone jjamppong deliciously: while the stone plate is still hot, use tongs to mix just the noodles and bean sprouts first, then later scrape up the nurungji stuck to the plate!
Stone-plate jjamppong (medium): loaded with crunchy bean sprouts! The two of us figured the medium set portion would already be a lot, and it really was generous. The medium set was a good amount for three women to eat until full. Two of us ate the set and couldn't finish it, ugh.

The moment it hit the table, the visual was insane. The jjamppong comes out bubbling away right on the stone plate. The plate is extremely hot so be careful! Mix the bean sprouts and jjamppong noodles together first.

The stone-plate jjamppong was packed generously with squid and shrimp. Since two of us didn't think we could finish it, we didn't add anything extra, but if you want to feel even more of that generous abundance, you can add a whole squid too — give it a try :-)
Once you've eaten some, the broth soaks deeper into the noodles and it gets tastier the more you eat — that's stone-plate jjamppong for you! Scrape the bottom hard and eat the nurungji along with it. This really felt like the whole point. A dish where you get both jjamppong and jjamppong-rice in one — two birds, one stone! The spice level was just right too.

What donchitang is: pork cutlet and sweet fried chicken
This is the handmade donchitang, limited quantity daily. I wondered what donchitang even was — turns out it's pork cutlet (donkkaseu) plus fried chicken (dakgangjeong).
Crispy outside, tender inside pork cutlet, plus soft fried chicken! A great combo to eat alongside the spicy jjamppong. Use the donchitang to cool things down when it gets a little too spicy, haha.

And if you're coming with young kids, going with the stone jjajang and donchitang set combo would satisfy both kids and adults!

They also have coffee, yogurt drinks, and rice crackers ready. Dolpanseok Jjamppong, a must-try spot near Paju Simhaksan that even takes care of dessert properly!
A spicy meal five minutes from Paju Lotte Outlet
Dolpanseok Jjamppong seems like it'll get even more popular as the weather cools down. Great for bringing kids or all kinds of gatherings — I'm planning to come back with family next time :-) If you're near Paju Lotte Outlet or Simhaksan and craving something spicy and hearty, I recommend Dolpanseok Jjamppong!
