In short

Two adults arrived at weekday opening time and ordered two Deul sets (20,000 won per person, no grilled fish), which came with spicy pork and squid stir-fry in cast-iron pans, nurungji (scorched rice) pot rice and unlimited wrap vegetables. Where is Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap, and what's the parking like?

Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap isn't right on the main road. It's a red brick building tucked in behind the daycare center on the main road. I've been here before, and coming back after a while, the red brick exterior was as pretty as ever.

You can park in front of the building and on its left side. The lot is spacious, so parking was easy. It's roomy, but since this place is so popular it can get a bit tight at peak times. If it's full, you can use the nearby public parking lot. I came at weekday opening time, so there was plenty of space, but note that the lot gets crowded around weekday lunchtime!
How does the waitlist work at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap?

You register for the waitlist on a kiosk, and there are plenty of waiting seats both near the entrance and inside. Since I came at weekday opening time, luckily there was no wait. The waiting area is well set up, so waiting should be comfortable.
Inside the restaurant and the self-serve bar

Inside, there were handwritten autographs from celebrities on the walls, and baby chairs are ready too. The restaurant is on the first floor of the building. There were lots of tables, and there's seating on the right side of the restaurant as well. I liked that the tables are spaced fairly wide apart.

In one corner there's a self-serve bar where you can refill wrap vegetables and side dishes. Oh, and the side dishes are set out for you at first, but the wrap vegetables are self-serve from the start.

There's a microwave for warming baby food, old-fashioned snacks for dessert, plus a coffee machine and ice cream. A Paju Simhaksan restaurant where you can even finish off with a proper palate cleanser: Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap!!
Deul set vs. Kkot set, and how to order

The menu at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is split mainly into the Deul set (들정식) and the Kkot set (꽃정식). They have the same lineup, and the only difference is whether grilled fish is included! There's also Spam egg rice for kids who can't handle spicy food! It's a great Korean set-meal spot in Paju for family gatherings!! Lotte Outlets is nearby, so shopping with the kids and then coming here as a family looks like a really good plan.

A restaurant that gives you a lottery ticket for writing a receipt review! I hope I win!!!!!

To order, scan the QR code, place your order, and pay when you leave. I came as two adults and ordered two Deul sets, the ones without grilled fish.
The Deul set for two (₩20,000 per person)

Deul set for two (₩20,000 per person)

The Deul set at Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap comes with 7 neat side dishes, savory doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), salty gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste dip) and a vegetable salad, plus pumpkin porridge!

The wrap vegetables came in a good variety and were fresh.

Both spicy pork and squid stir-fry as the main
The Deul set's main is both jeyuk-bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) and squid stir-fry! Getting to taste both is really great. And the portion is generous!

Tender spicy pork with a smoky grill flavor, and spicy, chewy, plump squid stir-fry. They come in cast-iron pans, so the food stays warm right to the end of the meal, which I loved.

Glossy pot rice, packed with savory nurungji (scorched rice), and so good.

Self-serve ice cream for dessert
For dessert I scooped myself a big bowl of ice cream! Dessert, done!! Kids would love this too, right? Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap is a great place to go when you're craving a Korean set meal in Paju near Simhaksan! I hope you'll visit at least once :-)
