If you're looking for good pork belly in Busan, save this place. I visited Daepae Maket Daeyeon Branch, a BBQ spot that's very popular in Daeyeon-dong right now and well known by word of mouth for family meals and group dinners.
It was recently renovated, so the interior is much cleaner and the facilities are better, and lots of customers were coming in. There was a wait when I went, but the restaurant is big and tables turn over fast, so I got in without waiting long. It really felt like a place that has already established itself as a Daeyeon-dong favorite.

Where is Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch, and where do you park?
Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch is right in front of Exit 5 of Daeyeon Station, so it's very easy to find. If you drive, 1 hour of parking support is available, which made the meal feel stress-free.
I was really happy with the location. It's easy for people using public transport, and it would also be a good choice when you arrange to meet near Kyungsung University. I can see why it's so well known among people searching for Kyungsung University or Daeyeon-dong pork belly spots.
A 110-seat restaurant: is it good for group dinners?
Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch seats up to 110 people, so it looked great not just for regular meals but for group gatherings. The first thing I noticed walking in was how big it is.
It's good for company dinners and just right for family meals. The layout is also comfortable for friend gatherings or club meetups with lots of people. When I visited, there were all kinds of customers eating, from students to office workers to families. The atmosphere was lively and buzzing, like a proper busy restaurant, which got me even more excited.

Pork sliced the moment you order: how does it taste?
At Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch, the meat is sliced as soon as your order goes in, and then served as thin-sliced pork belly. This is what surprised me most.
Now for the most important part, the meat. True to the name, the thin-sliced pork belly quality was really satisfying. At a lot of thin-sliced pork places, the meat is pre-cut and just brought out, right? Here it's sliced to order, so the freshness is different from the start. The color of the meat was much more vivid and the texture was a lot better than ordinary thin-sliced pork belly. Even though the slices are thin, the nutty richness keeps building as you chew, and the bite was much better. I could definitely taste the difference from other places.
Menu and free extras
Besides the basic thin-sliced pork belly, you can choose Hanwoo-pork (Korean pork) dishes and chestnut dishes, and fish cake soup is free. Leave a receipt review and you get a canned yellow peach, and there's ice cream for dessert too.
With so many choices, you can order to your taste. It would be great for a group that wants to order a bit of everything.
The free fish cake soup was the service I liked most. You know how you sometimes crave a hot, brothy soup while eating meat? Having fish cake soup come with the meal definitely raised my satisfaction. Thoughtful touches like this seem like a reason to come back. And the yellow peach you get for a receipt review is so good.

What's in the ₩2,000 self-bar?
At the Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch self-bar, adults pay just ₩2,000 extra for unlimited vegetables and side dishes. Personally, it was one of my favorite parts.
I was really surprised by the lineup. Lettuce and perilla leaves are standard, and they also had napa cabbage, angelica leaves and kale. The side dishes to go with the meat were varied too. There were several kinds of mushrooms, plus bean sprouts, kimchi and potatoes.
And one item I was really glad to see: the nostalgic pink sausage. It's the one I often ate in school lunchboxes as a kid, so it was extra fun to see. Grilled together with the meat, it was a surprisingly nice treat. Little touches like this seem to raise customer satisfaction.

A restaurant with a play room: good with kids?
Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch has a separate play room, with play equipment like screen experience machines and safety mats on the floor. Families eating out with kids will find plenty to like.
These days parents often look for restaurants with play facilities when eating out with kids, and this place has clearly thought about that. It isn't just a tiny corner; the play equipment is varied, and thanks to the safety mats kids can run around relatively safely. Parents can eat in peace while the kids have fun, so I immediately understood why it's so popular for family meals.

A clean restaurant and mouthwash in the restroom
The renovation made Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch more pleasant, and the restroom is especially clean and even has mouthwash, so you can freshen up after the meal.
Over the whole meal, I understood right away why people wait to get in. It's more pleasant after the renovation, the meat quality is really good, it's great for family meals, great with kids, great for group dinners, and the facilities are solid, so of course it's popular. The clean restroom especially left me in a good mood right to the end.

Would I go back for Daeyeon-dong pork belly?
If you're looking for proper pork belly in Busan, I recommend Daepae Maket Daeyeon Branch. If you're searching for Daeyeon-dong, Kyungsung University or Busan pork belly spots, it's a satisfying choice. It's also worth a visit for family meals or group dinners. Next time I crave meat in Daeyeon-dong, I'm planning to go back.

They were also running a fun prize event inside the restaurant. These days, tasty food alone isn't enough to be popular, right? With little events like this added to the fun of eating, I think more customers are drawn in. As a newly renovated restaurant, the clean, lively atmosphere overall was really nice.
