In short
Gongjung Dodeok (공중도덕) is a newly opened Korean duck restaurant on the Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo, Seoul, between Daeheung Station and Gongdeok Station. Three friends ordered the medium Gongjung half-and-half set (69,000 won) with a shrimp and minari (water dropwort) pancake and self-serve fried rice. Everything from the boneless duck potato stew to the crispy minari pancake was delicious, and all three left full. What are the outdoor seats and interior like?

Gongjung Dodeok sits in the middle of Gyeongui Line Forest Park, between Daeheung Station and Gongdeok Station.

Platform seating with a park view
This outdoor area is the part I'd always wanted to try whenever I saw it from a distance. Platforms are set out in the open air, so you can eat at a relaxed pace while looking at the forest path. It feels like grandma's front yard, like a countryside trip with friends where you grill meat together 😖

It had only just opened, yet it was already busy. There were quite a lot of older diners too, so it seems like a good place to bring your parents or hold a family gathering.

Hanok-style interior and private room area
The interior is decorated in a Korean style that reminds you of a Joseon-era hanok (traditional Korean house). There are plenty of 4-person tables with decent spacing, so it never felt crowded, which was nice.

There's also a separated, room-like space at the back.
What are the menu, prices and set options at Gongjung Dodeok?

The set options are good, so one set plus a side dish or two is just right. Sets come in medium (2 people) and large (3–4 people), so you can order by headcount. Check the menu photos for details‼️

What the three of us ordered
- Gongjung half-and-half set, medium: ₩69,000
- Shrimp minari pancake: ₩22,000
- Fried rice: ₩3,000
What side dishes come with the meal?

The basic sides are things that go well with duck: perilla leaves, radish wraps (mussam), sauces and green onion kimchi. That red sauce in particular is so good!

How does the medium half-and-half set (₩69,000) taste?
Boneless duck potato stew
The half-and-half set includes a boneless duck potato stew (gamjatang). Duck stew is usually a hassle because you have to pick the meat off the bones, but here it comes boneless, which is convenient, and there's plenty of meat too. It contains raw duck, so just simmer it slowly.
The stew is packed with vegetables and meat. The broth is spicy and rich, the kind that makes you want to dump rice into it ⚡️

Half marinated duck stir-fry + half roast duck
The half-and-half set is half marinated duck stir-fry, half roast duck, and minari. It also came with extras to eat alongside the duck, like rice cakes, minari, potatoes and vegetables, which I liked.

It looks so generous it makes you happy just looking at it ☺️ The roast duck is mild and goes well with minari, and the marinated stir-fry is slightly spicy, so wrapping it in perilla leaf or radish wrap with a bit of sauce was so good.

Wraps, then a sip of the duck stew broth: the combination was perfect 🤤

Is the shrimp minari pancake (₩22,000) a must-order?
We ordered the shrimp minari pancake as a side, and you have to get this one‼️ You can tell right away they didn't skimp on the minari or the small shrimp: there's a ton in it, and the portion is big. The minari aroma hits you on the first bite, and with the crispy texture on top, it was so good.

The pancake is fried crisp all over, so it's crunchy not just at the edges but all the way through.

Finishing with self-serve fried rice (₩3,000)
We finished with the self-serve fried rice 〰️ The amount of seaweed flakes matters in fried rice, and they put in loads, so I was completely satisfied.

The fried rice, cooked in the duck fat, was moist and so delicious.
Verdict: is a medium half-and-half set enough for three?
Gongjung Dodeok is a place to enjoy a generous duck spread at a hanok-style restaurant with a charming outdoor seating area. The three of us friends ordered the medium half-and-half set plus a shrimp minari pancake and fried rice, and all three left very full. Atmosphere, taste and portions: no complaints 〰️
If you're looking for a spot for a family or group gathering near Gongdeok in Mapo, I recommend Gongjung Dodeok for its generous duck feast 🍀🍀
