In short
Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch (갈곶포차 수청점) is a raw fish pocha (casual Korean bar) with a live fish tank, near Osandae Station in Osan, Gyeonggi. Drinking just a zero cola, the writer ordered a medium makseoreohoe (rough-cut raw fish, 52,000 won) and chicken karaage with fries (15,000 won). The free sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew), zucchini jeon and corn were generous, and the fish tasted as fresh as if sliced at a Gangwon-do raw fish restaurant. What kind of place is Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch?
Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch (갈곶포차 수청점) is a pocha (Korean pub) in a neighborhood near Osandae Station. Raw fish is the main draw, but it also serves other dishes like fried chicken. I was wondering what to eat on a weekend evening and remembered a friend once telling me to try Galgot Pocha.
It's a neighborhood restaurant and the area isn't exactly a busy downtown, so I was a little surprised by how many customers there were. After eating there, I totally get why people come here on purpose. The raw fish is really fresh, there are plenty of other dishes so you can order a bit of everything, and I loved the old-school vibe!

Where do you park at Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch?
The restaurant is near Osandae Station, and there's a public parking lot right in front, so just park there and walk in.

A pocha with a fish tank, like a raw fish restaurant
Galgot Pocha is a pocha, but since raw fish is its main menu, it has a separate fish tank and feels like a hoetjip (raw fish restaurant). Fresh fish were swimming in the tank, and seeing them made me decide I had to order the raw fish!

Menu prices and how to order at Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch
The sliced raw fish (makseoreohoe) is ₩42,000 for small, ₩52,000 for medium and ₩65,000 for large, and the chicken karaage with fries is ₩15,000. You order by scanning a QR code, and alcohol and drinks are self-serve.
True to a pocha, the interior had a retro, old-school feel, with decor a bit like a street food tent, but the air conditioning was blasting, so it was totally cool inside.
- Sliced raw fish, small: ₩42,000
- Sliced raw fish, medium: ₩52,000
- Sliced raw fish, large: ₩65,000
- Chicken karaage & fries: ₩15,000

What side dishes come free?
Right after we ordered, I was surprised by how generous the free side dishes were. The weather was a bit chilly that day, so they felt like an even better match. The corn was sweet, just the way I like it, so I got a refill and ate it again.

Free sundubu stew
Sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) comes out as a free side, and the portion is hearty and tasty. With a bowl of rice, it would be a perfect meal on its own. The broth is spicy and packed with ingredients, so since it's a pocha, it'd be great drinking food too!

Thin, crispy zucchini jeon
A jeon (Korean pan-fried pancake) made with thinly sliced zucchini is also a free side. It's fried so thin and crispy that it felt like eating tempura. It was my first time having this style of jeon, and I thought I should make it at home too, so I'll look up a recipe soon. It's seriously thin and extremely crunchy, so please try this one too.

Medium sliced raw fish at Galgot Pocha: portion and freshness
At Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch we ordered a medium assorted raw fish platter and chicken, and I was shocked by how big the portions were. With such a spread on the table, shall we dig in?
Honestly, I didn't have high hopes for raw fish at a pocha, but the reviews were good, so I wondered how it would be. But the freshness and color were something else, as if it had been sliced at a raw fish restaurant somewhere in Gangwon-do.

It's sliced roughly, so the pieces are a good bite size, and above all it was caught from the tank and sliced right then, so it couldn't have been fresher.

Vegetables tossed in chogochujang
To eat with the raw fish, vegetables come tossed in chogochujang (sweet and tangy chili sauce), and this was absolutely delicious too. I thought it was a great pairing.

The seasoning is a bit sweet and tangy, like hoemuchim (spicy raw fish salad), so putting raw fish on top makes it even more refreshing, and I think if you poured broth over it, it'd turn into mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), haha. Put the raw fish on a lettuce wrap and enjoy! ⭐

How was the chicken karaage and fries?
I didn't expect much from the chicken karaage with fries (₩15,000) at Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch either, but the portion was generous and it came out freshly fried, so the crunch was something else. Fries come with it too, so you can really fill up.
The fries were sprinkled with a Puringkle-style seasoning powder (like the cheese powder on Bhc's Puringkle chicken), and that was a treat too, haha. It just makes you keep picking at them, you know?!

Is it a good pocha if you don't drink?
We don't drink, so we enjoyed our dinner feast with zero cola, while the other tables were all happily tipsy, haha. Galgot Pocha Sucheong Branch works both as drinking food and as a full meal, so I'll come back here next time I crave raw fish.

Galgot Pocha near Osandae Station lets you eat fresh raw fish at raw fish restaurant quality, so on these summer days when your appetite drops, give it a visit! 😍
