Getting to Sushi Naru and parking
The restaurant is a short walk from Yeongdae Hospital Station on Subway Line 1, so it's easy to reach by subway. If you drive, a nearby paid public lot or the Daegu Bank parking lot should work! I came while hunting for sushi near Apsan, and the inside was cozy and kept nice and clean.

How do you choose an assorted sushi set at Sushi Naru?
There were plenty of assortments: a special set, a premium-style special set (특선초밥), and a fish-only assortment made purely of fish. I sat down and read the menu, and when I go for sushi I always check what kinds come out and whether the lineup is generous for the price. So many things looked good that I got even more excited.
Sushi is great for a quick meal, and picking your favorite fish is half the fun, so it's something I crave now and then, haha. I like places where I can try lots of different kinds. This time I ordered the fish-focused assortment and the special set with its mix of toppings together.

Free mini udon and salad at Sushi Naru
Order sushi or any meal and you get mini udon and a salad by default. They came out first while we waited, and the "mini" udon is not mini at all, the portion is quite big..! Sushi alone might feel a bit light, but with warm broth and a salad included, the meal felt more complete.

You can sip the udon broth between pieces of sushi, and the salad refreshes your palate. Not having to order a side dish separately made it feel like good value too.

10-piece fish assortment: salmon, engawa and otoro all included
The 10-piece fish assortment is exactly what it sounds like: a ₩18,000 set made only of fish. This is the one I ordered, and if you love original, true-to-form fish sushi, I strongly recommend it. It suits people who like the fish itself more than other toppings.
Best of all, it has my favorites: salmon, engawa (flounder fin) and otoro (fatty tuna)! When I order an assortment I look at how many of my favorites are in it, and this one matched my taste, so I was really happy, haha.

You get the soft, rich flavor of salmon, plus favorite cuts like engawa and toro, so picking through the kinds was fun. I adore salmon, and there are 3 pieces, even salmon belly. How great is that!><
I'd recommend it for days you want fish-focused sushi, or if you want to enjoy lots of kinds of fish at once. If you like fish sushi like I do, you'll probably love the lineup from the start!

How was the 12-piece special set?
The special set is 12 pieces for ₩18,000, a lineup that lets you taste many kinds of fish and other toppings. From familiar flounder and salmon to akami, sea bream, scallop, shrimp, beef and freshwater eel, it's a nice way to enjoy lots of sushi at once.
The flounder is clean and light, and I liked comparing raw and grilled salmon, since the same fish tastes so different. With akami and sea bream added, there's plenty of variety, so you don't get stuck on one flavor.
Scallop, sweet shrimp and soy-marinated shrimp give you textures and tastes different from fish sushi, and with several shrimp types you can pick what you like. The egg sushi is an easy bite between the others, and with beef and freshwater eel you get non-fish toppings too.
The biggest strength of the special set is experiencing lots of toppings on one plate. It suits people who'd rather eat shrimp, scallop, beef and eel than just fish.

Fish assortment or special set: which should you pick?
The fish assortment was great for eating mostly fish like my beloved salmon, engawa and toro, and the special set was fun for picking through its many toppings. If you love sushi but can't decide, choose by whether you want mostly fish or a broad mix of toppings!

Final verdict on Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch
Sushi Naru is a good stop when you crave sushi in Daemyeong-dong. What I liked most this visit was the menu lineup. The fish assortment has my favorites, salmon, engawa and toro, so it matched my taste, and the special set let me taste everything from flounder and salmon to shrimp, scallop, beef and eel at once.
I was also happy that mini udon and a salad come with every sushi and meal order. Even without extra dishes you get something to go with the sushi, which felt like good value.
- People who love fish sushi
- People who want to enjoy salmon, engawa, toro and other fish
- People who want to taste many kinds of sushi at once
- People who want a full meal with mini udon and salad
- People looking for a sushi place with decent value
For mostly fish, go for the fish assortment; for a broad mix of toppings, the special set! It's a good option whenever you want sushi near Yeongdae Hospital. If you love sushi like me, save this one :)
