Daemyeong-dong, Daegu sushi: Hokkaido scallop on uni at Sushi Naru

The weather has suddenly gotten hot, and my appetite is dropping! At times like this I keep craving clean, fresh Japanese food. Near Yeongdae Hospital Station I found a Daemyeong-dong, Daegu sushi spot famous for its quality: Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch! Here's the story of my very satisfying meal ><

Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch: hours and parking

Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch is open Monday to Saturday from 11:30 to 22:00, with a break from 15:00 to 17:00 and last order at 21:30. It's closed every Sunday.

There's no dedicated parking lot. On weekdays from 9am to 4pm you can use the paid public roadside parking on the way to the Yeongdae Hospital entrance, the Uri paid private lot, or nearby alleys. At other times you can use the Daegu Bank parking lot next door.

It's right near Yeongdae Hospital Station, so it's easy to reach by subway too. My boyfriend and I came by car, and since it was evening we parked in the Daegu Bank lot right next to the restaurant!

Luckily one spot was left, so parking done! If the Daegu Bank lot is full, you can use the nearby alleys or the paid and public lots.

It was a clean, cute little place. Let's head inside!!

Inside Sushi Naru: seating, and is solo dining OK?

Inside Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch was clean and comfortable! There are a few tables and also bar seats, so eating alone works too! We went in the evening, and the tables were almost all full. Delivery orders kept coming in too, so I thought, this is definitely a popular place!!

The menu has assorted sushi, a special set (teukseon) and a premium special set (seupesyeol), so you can try a variety, and there are options with only salmon, flounder or shrimp, which look good for anyone who wants just one kind. Besides sushi, there are rice bowls and katsu (breaded cutlet) dishes too, so keep that in mind!

They also run a Naver reservation review event, so it's worth joining!

On one side of the table there are spoons and chopsticks, cups, plates, pickled ginger, rakkyo (pickled scallions) and soy sauce, plus chopstick rests, which felt really thoughtful haha

Special sets plus Hokkaido scallop: how did they taste?

At Sushi Naru, salad, kimchi and udon come out before the sushi. The udon broth was rich and really delicious! I kept sipping the broth haha

We ordered the premium special set and the special set, and added Hokkaido scallop! The sushi looked delicious from the first glance!! The variety was great too hahaha

This is the special set my boyfriend ordered! Flounder, salmon, shrimp, eel and more, all looking tasty, right?

Sushi that looks like it melts in your mouth just from the photo... The fish itself looked fresh, and the rice portion was just right.

Shrimp, my absolute favorite! It really melts in your mouth.... so rich and creamy.. the best...

Scallop on top of uni: a perfect pairing

I really love uni too, and my boyfriend gave it up so I could top it with scallop, which made it even better haha The uni and scallop combo is a total winner!!!

The salmon was thick and satisfying too.

Beef sushi can sometimes smell off if it's not done well, but Sushi Naru's had no gamey smell at all and was totally delicious!!!

Is Sushi Naru Yeongdae Hospital Main Branch worth a return visit?
