Fish dry food for two cats: Thrive PremiumPlus Salmon & Herring

I received this product and fed it to my two cats. Since I felt they do not eat much fish normally, I chose Thrive PremiumPlus Salmon & Herring cat dry food.

What ingredients were in the dry food I chose?

This one is made with salmon and herring. I was interested because it is described as containing 70% fish meat.

Thrive was introduced as a British pet-food brand. I also looked at the product description, which says it is made with dried and fresh meat rather than meal, and contains salmon oil.

What were the packaging and kibble size like?

The cats even put their noses to the sealed package to sniff it. The package is a zip bag, so it was easy to close again and store after feeding. I felt that the scent stayed fresh right to the end, and it did not leave much of an oily feeling on my hands.

The pieces were about 1.2 cm, which was larger than I expected. If you are expecting small kibble, the size will probably be the first thing you notice.

How did I serve it with their usual wet food?

At our house, we normally give wet and dry food together at every meal. I served it that way this time too, in the bowls I had recently bought. Gamja tends to spill food while eating, so I had to clean up around the bowl afterward.

I thought they had put on weight recently, so I had reduced the wet food to one scoop and was giving them a little more dry food. Since I felt their usual diet was lacking in fish, I tried feeding this salmon and herring product alongside it.

Did both cats eat it well?

Gamja buried their nose in the bowl and ate well. Ongsimi, who has a smaller mouth, crunched the pieces several times, but ate well too. Both cats responded well, but the kibble size was definitely something where you could notice a difference.

At first, I fed them only a small amount and watched how they digested it. During the time I observed them, there was no vomiting or loose stool, and no noticeable allergic reaction either. I was happy that both cats ate it well and that it was easy to store.
