I visited a Nonhyeon pork belly spot that's easy to reach, just 3 minutes from the station and open 24 hours.

How to get to Daepae Market from Nonhyeon Station

🚇 234 m from Exit 3 of Nonhyeon Station (Line 7, Shinbundang Line), a 3-minute walk

If you use Sinnonhyeon Station, it's a 7-minute walk (473 m) from Exit 3. It's on the right side of the entrance to the Yeongdong Market food alley, so the alley wasn't hard to find.

What kind of BBQ restaurant is Daepae Market?

Daepae Market is a brand specializing in daepae (thin-sliced) pork, with pork belly and pork neck made from Spanish Duroc pork as its signature dishes.

There's an origin sign on the wall, so you can check where each cut comes from right away, and when you order, they slice the meat on the spot with a meat slicer.

It didn't feel like pre-sliced meat; the juices and aroma felt alive.

What's in the ₩2,000-per-person self-bar

The self-bar is ₩2,000 per person, and that felt truly reasonable, since there's a wide variety, including minari (water dropwort), mushrooms, ssam vegetables, side dishes and sauces, and you can pick and set up whatever you like.

You fill your own plates and eat freely, so the mood was relaxed.

The stone grill barely burns

The grill is a stone plate, and I was amazed at how little it burns.

Even if something sticks, you just pour a little water, wipe it off and keep grilling, so it's much easier to manage.

We put grilled minari and grilled mushrooms on a strip of daepae pork and rolled it up to eat. One strip is exactly one bite, so we kept picking them up without feeling heavy.

The golden, nutty daepae pork with fragrant grilled minari and mushrooms was a work of art together.

I liked that all the side dishes that go so well with the meat were gathered in one place.

Finish with self-serve fried rice

After eating our fill of meat, we finished solidly with self-serve fried rice.

Fried rice cooked on a plate that still has the meat fat and aroma can get greasy, but eating it with the self-bar side dishes made for a clean finish.

For group dinners or just two people with soju

It's great for company dinners or gatherings, and also perfect for a casual two-person round of daepae pork and soju. A Nonhyeon pork belly spot I'd go back to.
