Yeongdeungpo team dinner spot: jjuksam set for two, Isu Jjukkumi
In short
Charcoal Isu Jjukkumi West Yeouido Branch is a jjukkumi (spicy baby octopus) restaurant on the 2nd floor of the Manhattan21 building, a 7-minute walk from Exit 1 of Gukhoeuisadang Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The jjuksam set for two (43,000 won) cooks baby octopus and pork belly separately, then adds glass noodles, a mashed boiled-egg mayo sauce, and snow cheese fried rice to finish. Inside Manhattan21's 2nd floor: what the restaurant looks like

If you work around Gukhoeuisadang or West Yeouido, you'll know the Manhattan21 building well. Head up to the 2nd floor and you'll spot Charcoal Isu Jjukkumi West Yeouido Branch right away!

This is one of the three most famous jjukkumi restaurants in Seoul, no less! My expectations were already up + up before even stepping inside!

The interior is full of that trendy industrial-metal vibe and is pretty spacious, so it seems great not just for an office lunch but also for an evening team dinner (I should recommend it to my boss~). For couples on a date, tables 1–3 in the back give a cozy mood for a drink or two~

Side dishes and the boiled-egg mayo sauce that makes Isu Jjukkumi

The basic side dishes are stir-fried fish cake, stir-fried potato, bean sprouts, perilla leaves, pickled radish, flying fish roe, mayo sauce, and a boiled egg.

The real, unexpected highlight of Isu Jjukkumi is this mayo sauce! You mash the boiled egg and mix it with mayonnaise yourself, and it doesn't taste like regular mayo at all — some kind of special something! It tones down the spiciness of the octopus while tying all the flavors together nicely.
What comes in the 43,000-won jjuksam set for two, and when to add the glass noodles

Handping & jjunping ordered the jjuksam 2-person set! The set includes octopus and pork belly for 2, fried rice for 2, and glass noodle sarī. The spice level is adjustable, so even spice-shy folks have nothing to fear~
First, the octopus and pork belly are cooked separately before mixing — so there's a patient wait while they sizzle away~

Right when the octopus and pork belly are nearly done, the glass noodles slip in — nice touch! The final trinity of octopus + pork belly + glass noodles is complete...! Time to taste it (let's gooo~)

With octopus, pork belly, flying fish roe, mayo sauce, pickled radish, perilla leaves, and glass noodles all on the table, you can mix and match however you like~ No matter the combination, you won't be disappointed!!
Finishing with snow cheese fried rice

Got enough protein in, so time to finish with some carbs, right?
The other secret weapon that goes into the fried rice is snow cheese... it takes the savory flavor up another level!

Add some flying fish roe to the fried rice to taste, and it's the icing on the cake~

Don't forget to write a receipt review, either~
If you're an office worker around Gukhoeuisadang or Yeouido, I strongly recommend Charcoal Isu Jjukkumi West Yeouido Branch for a spicy lunch when you're stressed, or for a drink over a team dinner. That's all from me for now~
