Hapjeong kaisendon set with ankimo and croquette: Makise Hapjeong
In short
Makise Hapjeong is a Japanese restaurant in a basement space on Poeun-ro 2na-gil, near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. Two diners ordered one kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) and one kaisendon set and shared both, scooping the sashimi up with the rice as the staff suggested, which made each bite taste like a spoonable sushi omakase. With the ankimo (monkfish liver) and the croquette that comes with the set, Makise Hapjeong is worth a return trip for anyone after fresh kaisendon in Hapjeong.

Makise Hapjeong: kaisendon a short walk from Hapjeong Station
Today I'm introducing Makise Hapjeong, where I had genuinely delicious kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) in Hapjeong!

I already love sushi and seafood, but this time I visited specifically for a proper kaisendon. Bottom line: it was so good that I kept saying we had to come back while eating,, 🤤

It's near Hapjeong Station so it wasn't hard to find, and the good access made it a great spot for meeting up. The exterior already had that tidy Japanese restaurant vibe going on! Clean but with a distinct Japanese atmosphere, which had me excited before even walking in ✨

What are the seats and atmosphere like at Makise Hapjeong?
Walking into Makise Hapjeong, the overall feel was clean and upscale. There was a subtle Japanese vibe too, which I personally loved!

There's a range of seating from bar tables to tables for four, so it works whether you're eating alone, meeting friends, or looking for a Hapjeong date restaurant. 💖

What we ordered: kaisendon and the kaisendon set
We ordered the kaisendon and the kaisendon set.

The moment the food arrived, we both gasped at the visuals,, piled high with seafood, and every single piece looked so fresh >.< Honestly it had been a while since I felt this satisfied eating kaisendon. So I want to recommend this as a kaisendon spot in Hapjeong! If you're looking for kaisendon in Seoul, it's worth a visit, and it's the kind of place that comes to mind when you want good sushi or seafood in Hapjeong.

Why the ankimo (monkfish liver) is worth adding
I tried it piece by piece the way it was explained. And honestly, this thing is a treasure!! Each piece of sashimi had great texture and you could really feel the freshness right away.ㅠㅠ The soft, savory flavor came through so clearly that my hand kept reaching for more. If you like ankimo, you have to try it here alongside everything else. I genuinely kept picking it up because it was so good (◜◡◝)

A kaisendon that eats like spoonable sushi omakase
And most of all, the quality of the sashimi was insane. The sashimi itself was so good that even eaten plain with rice, the combination worked so well! Scooping up different types of sashimi with rice, spoonful by spoonful, really did feel like spoonable sushi omakase in one bowl,, I have to give it that ෆ

The croquette that comes with the set
The croquette that came with the set was also good, so we devoured it as soon as it arrived haha. Crispy outside, soft inside, and dipped in the sauce it was genuinely delicious! Having a bite of croquette between bites of kaisendon made for a surprisingly good combo. It's always nice when even the sides are this good, right? 👍

Makise Hapjeong kaisendon: the verdict
- ✔️ Fresh seafood and high-quality sashimi
- ✔️ Clean, upscale Japanese sensibility
- ✔️ A well-rounded set menu
This is genuinely a real kaisendon spot. The sashimi quality is good enough to eat on its own, and even better scooped up with rice! What I loved most was that spoonable sushi omakase feeling in one bowl. Getting to enjoy so many different kinds of seafood in a single bowl was just so good.
If you're looking for a sushi restaurant in Hapjeong or a kaisendon spot in Seoul, I recommend Makise Hapjeong! I'll probably recommend this place pretty confidently whenever someone asks me for restaurant picks near Hapjeong Station ◡̈ Honestly, I know I'll be craving it again soon, so I'm already set on revisiting. If you bring someone here on a day you're craving good kaisendon, you'll probably get called thoughtful,, 💖
