Table setting of grilled hanwoo at Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 Hapjeong Branch

Been studying hard... and that weekend, the urge to reward myself was overwhelming, so I went and ate something truly delicious haha. This Hapjeong Station hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant has that dining-course vibe, almost an omakase smell to it — honestly one of the best hanwoo meals I've had near Hapjeong Station. Let me introduce it right away.

How to walk to Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 from Hapjeong Prugio

Even though I pass through Hapjeong Prugio all the time (not that I live there haha), it's actually a little confusing! Easiest way to explain: take the escalator down to the first floor of the 2nd Prugio complex, the one heading toward Kyobo Books, then walk around behind the escalator — you'll see it right there! Not hard to find at all, and honestly it's close and convenient haha.

Inside Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9: interior and atmosphere

Since the staff grill your meat for you, the seating is mostly bar-style, omakase-style, though there's also a table for four. The vibe is upscale yet relaxed, and really clean haha.

Complimentary side dishes: ankimo, yukhoe and seasoned cockles

The default side dishes here are overwhelming in quality. I've been to quite a few hanwoo restaurants near Hapjeong Station, but this might be the best one yet, honestly.

Basic side dish spread at Eutteum Aged Hanwoo No.9 Hapjeong Branch

Genuinely the biggest portion of ankimo (monkfish liver) I've ever been served as a side dish haha. The quality is amazing too, and that rich, silky flavor... whew, it went really well with the beef. They don't call it the foie gras of the sea for nothing.

The yukhoe (beef tartare) was so fresh and delicious. Yukhoe and beef sashimi are actually deliverable near my place too, so I'm definitely ordering some next time. It wasn't heavily seasoned, but it just clung together perfectly — the hanwoo itself seemed to be top quality.

Basically, the side dishes here are delicious and premium, and the portions are generous too haha. Even cockle salad was part of the lineup — such a lavish spread, and genuinely tasty.

Tableside grilling service by the staff

Generous table setting including cockle salad

Once the meat is ready, they bring out the grill and cook it for you professionally. It felt like a semi-omakase experience, with the staff carefully pacing the grilling to match how fast we were eating! If I ever need to treat someone to hanwoo near Hapjeong Station, I'd want to bring them here.

The four cuts in the 600g Hanwoo Special Set

The beef was almost too pretty to eat haha. This is reportedly No.9, the highest grade even among 1++ hanwoo (well, it certainly looked the part).

1++ 넘버나인 한우 스페셜 세트 접시

Beyond the grade, it seemed like they age the beef in-house too (there was an aging fridge!). They said they check the fat distribution and grain of the meat carefully when bringing it in, so you can just trust it and dig in.

Four cuts arranged: deckle, sirloin, sae-usal, skirt

Clockwise from the left: deckle, sirloin, sae-usal, and skirt. That's one geun (about 600g) right there! The grilling order also seemed to follow the ideal sequence for eating.

Deckle with the house-made fish sauce

First up was the deckle. Honestly, one bite and I got chills. It just melted away.

They recommended dipping it in fish sauce, so I tried it — my first time pairing hanwoo with soy-style sauce, and it was such a fresh combination. This sauce is genuinely precious, apparently made entirely in-house: 100% domestic fish, aged over 3 years to remove brine, then fermented for more than 5 years in sun-dried salt. Not salty at all, just really clung to the palate. The pairing with the hanwoo was incredible.

Sirloin with basil sauce

Second was the sirloin haha. Cut into perfect one-bite pieces and served at exactly the right pace. They kept swapping our plate whenever oil pooled on it — that kind of attentive service really warmed my heart haha.

Creamy basil sauce served alongside the sirloin

For the sirloin, they recommended a creamy basil sauce, and eating it this way revealed a totally different charm than the fish sauce did — the basil aroma spread through, giving it almost a Western dish feel.

Sae-usal (chuck flap tail)

Fire!! This precious cut is sae-usal haha, a cut I haven't gotten to try much.

Heavily marbled hanwoo sae-usal cut

Apparently it comes from somewhere near the sirloin, but the marbling is far more dramatic, making it incredibly tender — like an extra-soft version of sirloin.

Sae-usal grilling on the fire

Firm yet with the fat melting through — this, I thought, is exactly what hanwoo tastes like. Such a delicious hanwoo restaurant near Hapjeong Station... I want to eat this again.

Finishing with skirt steak

We finished cleanly with skirt. Around the time we were eating the skirt, we also ordered the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) to go alongside haha.

What does the 1++ hanwoo doenjang jjigae taste like?

This doenjang jjigae is quite unusual, actually. The doenjang jjigae we usually know is thick and reddish, but this one had a much lighter color!

Light-colored 1++ hanwoo doenjang jjigae

When I tried it, though, don't judge it by its watery-looking appearance. It's clearly simmered with a rich beef broth base — like a mix of beef soup and doenjang soup, and wow, the flavor was deep.

Beef sashimi with vinegared rice: how to eat it

Doenjang jjigae served with a bowl of rice

They gave us this as a little taste! Normally you'd order the beef sashimi and vinegared rice separately and pile it up yourself — this is what that combo looks like!

Beef sashimi served over vinegared rice

They said it's delicious dipped in the fish sauce too... and the combination was honestly the best. It was so good I still remember getting chills off that one bite. Beef sashimi is deliverable near my place, so I'm definitely ordering it next time. This beat every beef sashimi I've had before.

Since we were eating well, might as well drink well too!! So we ordered bokbunja wine and had a luxurious weekend. After eating my fill of good food and thoroughly oiling up my stomach and tastebuds with quality hanwoo, I had so much energy the following weekday. Seriously haha — this is basically medicine.

Verdict: a Hapjeong Station hanwoo spot for treating guests

This is a top-tier hanwoo restaurant near Hapjeong Station where every ingredient is sourced with real care. Making their own fish sauce is just the baseline — combined with attentive service and excellent ingredient quality, it's a place that makes you marvel with every bite. Since you can try No.9, the highest grade even among 1++ hanwoo, it's also a great spot to bring guests. Recommended!
