Main photo from a return visit to Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong

Now that the weather has turned cool, I've been craving hot, rich soup dishes! So my husband and I went back to a ramen shop we've been visiting for a while: Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong (오레노라멘 은평점), near Saejeol Station! It's a place we keep coming back to whenever it crosses our minds, and once again it was delicious.

Rich chicken broth, tender toppings and generous portions: that's why I keep going back to this ramen spot, Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong.

It sits right along Bulgwangcheon-gil, so it isn't hard to find.

It's fine to reach by public transport, and if you drive, check the parking spot in front of the shop. There's room for only 1–2 cars, so it may be full. Just a heads-up 🙂

You order and pay first at a kiosk. Inside, it's a clean open kitchen with counter seats (dacchi-seok) that suit solo diners.

The food doesn't take long to come out, so the whole meal flows nicely. GOOD 👍

Can you get rice, noodle, broth and kimchi refills?

Yes: Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong offers refills of rice, noodles, broth and kimchi. Sometimes a bowl of ramen can feel a little small, so this is a plus. I was starving that day and swore I'd definitely get extra 🤣

Restroom location and door code

The restroom is outside the shop: go out, and with your back to the shop door, it's on the left. It's kept clean and was very convenient. It does need a password, though, so check at the shop beforehand!

Oreno Ramen's signature dishes and what we ordered

Oreno Ramen's signature dishes are tori paitan, a rich, nutty chicken-broth (paitan) ramen, and karai paitan, which adds spicy seasoning to it. You can add toppings like soft-boiled egg or tsukune (chicken meatballs) to taste, and this time we also tried the newly added assorted tsukune.

Tori paitan: rich, hearty chicken broth

Tori paitan is a ramen known for its rich, nutty chicken broth. The broth is thick, so one sip gives you a soft, hearty flavor. Yep, this is the taste 😋

The bowl comes with soft-boiled egg, sous vide chicken breast, wood ear mushrooms and more.

The wood ear mushrooms keep a crunchy bite, adding some fun chewiness among the other soft ingredients.

Karai paitan: a must if you like spicy ramen

Karai paitan takes the rich, nutty broth of tori paitan and adds some spiciness.

Karai paitan with spicy broth

It has a different charm from the basic ramen, so if you like spicy food, I highly recommend it!

Noodles and broth of karai paitan

Karai paitan is definitely a dish that would suit anyone who prefers a spicy broth.

And of course, the soft-boiled egg is totally insane!

Tender sous vide chicken breast topping

I can't believe chicken breast can be this tender; I marvel every time 👏

My husband said karai paitan would be good as a hangover cure, too. In between bites, the kimchi and radish pickles tidy up your palate, yum. That kimchi is seriously good :)

How does the new assorted tsukune platter taste?

The assorted tsukune was the new order on this visit to Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong, and the texture is really soft. I hadn't seen it on the menu before, so I was super curious.

Assorted tsukune, a newly added menu item

In the mouth it felt less springy and firm and more like it softly crumbles. So it's easy to eat together with the ramen, and it was also good on its own as a side.

Soft-textured assorted tsukune

If you like the toppings that go into ramen, or you want something to go with the basic ramen, it's worth ordering together. Ramen plus the assorted tsukune made the meal much more filling.

I'd planned to add extra noodles or rice, but I was too full to do it 🤣 Before eating I was so hungry I was sure I'd add some, but afterwards I think, wait, there are people who actually add more!? Haha...

Verdict: an Eunpyeong ramen shop worth a return visit

Another full, delicious meal with my husband at Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong! The taste is addictive, so this is visit number n, but I'm satisfied every single time.

If I'd gone a little later, I might have missed the assorted tsukune 😨
