Gwangalli sashimi bar for a white-fish-only husband: Gwanganda Jjji

In short

Gwanganda Jjji Gwangalli Main Branch is a seafood dachi (chef's counter course) sashimi restaurant with a Gwangan Bridge view, on the 6th floor of Sanbada Hoetown in Millak-dong, Busan. On the first day of their Busan trip, a couple from Daegu ordered the 55,000-won-per-person dachi spread for two at a weekday lunch: starters, live seafood, assorted olive flounder, marbled flounder and sea bass sashimi, then stew, braised fish, porridge and tempura. Gwanganda Jjji, where you can eat without ordering alcohol, won over even a husband who only eats white fish.

What kind of Gwangalli sashimi restaurant is Gwanganda Jjji?

Gwanganda Jjji Gwangalli Main Branch (광안다찌 광안리본점) is a dachi sashimi restaurant on the 6th floor of Sanbada Hoetown in Millak-dong, Busan, where the Gwangan Bridge and the sea spread out in one view. Its hallmark is that you can enjoy the meal without ordering alcohol. When you come to Busan, you have to have a sashimi and seafood spread at a sea-view restaurant, right?! Since it was our first day in Gwangalli, we visited Gwanganda Jjji Gwangalli Main Branch, already famous as a top-tier Gwangalli dachi place.

We tried the "dachi spread" (a table of many seafood dishes), which has high quality for a reasonable price. With hearty starters (skkidasi) full of care and sashimi and seafood so fresh 🦞 it was a Millak-dong restaurant that left us so, so satisfied during our Busan trip.

It's a high-floor space with a full view of the Gwangan Bridge and the sea, so on Saturdays and certain holidays you can also watch the Gwangalli drone show and Gwangalli fireworks 🎆, which I recommend as part of your route. You can currently reserve seats for the Busan Fireworks Festival 🎇 on November 7 too, so keep that in mind.

Sashimi doesn't make you fat ♥

The inside of Gwanganda Jjji is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, so the Gwangan Bridge and sea views unfold all around. Wow... 🪩 I gasped at the bridge view the moment we walked in. The weather was perfect that day too, so the scenery outside the window was just perfect ✨

The open feeling that clears your head is great, the sparkling glimmer on the water is so pretty 🌅 and all I could do was marvel at the scenery!! I thought, I really did find the right Gwangalli sashimi restaurant, haha!

Private rooms for family meals and gatherings

Besides the hall with its continuous sea view, Gwanganda Jjji has private rooms that suit family meals and gatherings, so there were plenty of comfortable places to eat. The overall atmosphere is upscale, and with the clean hygiene and good service from the staff, it felt like a great Gwangalli sashimi restaurant to bring your parents 👍 There were lots of older guests that day, and even at weekday lunch the tables with parents were completely full. (If you're looking for a Millak-dong restaurant, here it is!)

Does booking ahead get you a better seat at Gwanganda Jjji?

We visited Gwanganda Jjji after reserving, and even though it was a busy day, they saved us the very best seat,,,, 🤍 It was the main corner spot with the Gwangan view on the side, behind and in front. If you plan to visit, definitely reserve first!!!!

The basic table setting

Aaaah,,,, they gave us basic spoons and small plates and they're so cute!! The fish drawn on the small plate 🐟 fits the Gwangalli sashimi restaurant concept so well,, and the Gwanganda Jjji character on the spoon is so cute, haha. It was also very clean, pass ~~!

What's in the 55,000-won dachi spread at Gwanganda Jjji?

The dachi spread at Gwanganda Jjji is ₩55,000 per person, and we ordered for 2. The freshly cooked, seafood-packed "imokase" (chef's-choice by the aunties in the kitchen) lineup was so full... and there was so much that I was amazed!!

Overall the order is starters, seafood, assorted sashimi, then the meal (stew, braised fish, tempura, porridge), and the staff thoughtfully timed each dish to how fast we were eating, which we loved.

Which starters (sukidashi) come out first?

Starter table setting of the dachi spread at Gwanganda Jjji

The starters at Gwanganda Jjji include salad, spicy raw fish salad (hoemuchim), scallops, eel, soy-marinated crab (ganjang gejang), rolls, shrimp tempura, seasoned cockles (kkomak muchim), abalone sashimi, live octopus (sannakji), raw shrimp, assorted seafood and kimchi pancake. A hearty seafood spread arrives in front of the Gwangan Bridge view, and the varied seafood and starters, with their insistence on freshness and quality, really whetted the appetite 🤤

The starters at Gwanganda Jjji aren't just there to pad the count; each one looks and tastes good enough to order as a main. My husband and I were so busy happily tasting them one by one that we were already getting full, haha. The plates are stylish too, and you can feel the care put into every plating. It was a dachi spread made with real heart 👏

How fresh is the seafood at Gwanganda Jjji?

The seafood served as standard at Gwanganda Jjji is all alive and wriggling. It was so, so fresh that my husband and I said in unison it's on a whole different level from the seafood we eat in Daegu!!!!

Pick of the day: seasoned cockles and abalone sashimi

Lovingly made starter dish at Gwanganda Jjji

My picks at Gwanganda Jjji that day were the seasoned cockles and the abalone sashimi. The cockle seasoning was seriously... out-of-this-world, hats off to the aunties' touch!! Need I say the abalone sashimi was fresh.. The chewy, springy texture dipped in sesame-oil sauce doubles the nutty, clean flavor, and it vanished in no time, haha!

Which white fish are in the Gwanganda Jjji assorted sashimi?

Assorted sashimi of flatfish, flounder and sea bass at Gwanganda Jjji

That day the assorted sashimi at Gwanganda Jjji was a lineup of 3: flatfish (gwangeo, olive flounder), doldom-style flounder (dodari, marbled sole) and sea bass (nongeo). While we were tasting the starters the main sashimi platter came out quickly, about 10–15 minutes I think. The platter was plated so elegantly, and you could see the care in it!! It's truly a Gwangalli sashimi restaurant I'd want to bring my parents to 👍

Actually my husband isn't big on raw fish or seafood, and among sashimi he only likes white fish. The platter happened to be made up of only white fish, so lucky me~ 🍀 I was so happy, haha.

Ahh... this is it, this is the thing 💙 Only now did it sink in that we'd come to Busan, haha. A dachi spread full of fresh seafood and sashimi at a restaurant with the Gwangan view,, I was genuinely so happy. If you're looking for a Gwangalli sashimi restaurant, definitely save Gwanganda Jjji~! How can you resist this view..?! haha (I'm going again too~)

Can you eat at Gwanganda Jjji without ordering alcohol?

Yes, at Gwanganda Jjji you can have just the meal without ordering alcohol. At other dachi places an alcohol order is a must, but Gwanganda Jjji doesn't use the traditional Tongyeong dachi system where side dishes come out each time you order a drink!!

Dachi spread enjoyed without alcohol at Gwanganda Jjji

I heard the table setting at Gwanganda Jjji was developed with such a high cost ratio that serving food without alcohol leaves almost no net margin, but since they can't lower the quality of the spread afterwards, they've kept it that way 👏 So please visit lots and taste the high-quality dachi spread at a reasonable price⭐️

Daeseon soju ordered at Gwanganda Jjji

But I'm the kind of person who can't resist soju with sashimi,,, so I ordered Daeseon (a Busan soju)...💙😝 Even a single bottle was put in a cold bucket for us, so the drink tasted even better!! Wait, but the Daeseon x Bukang collab 🦈 is so cute.... (why am I only finding out now)

Assorted sashimi paired with soju at Gwanganda Jjji

You can't skip soju pairing with sashimi, and maybe because the freshness is different, the texture was firm, and the sashimi was so good on its own with no extras that I kept enjoying it plain 🤤

Gwanganda Jjji meal course: stew, braised fish, porridge and tempura

Closing meal table of the Gwanganda Jjji course

The meal in the Gwanganda Jjji dachi spread isn't a choice of one; they serve stew, braised fish, porridge and tempura all together...🙌🏻 Just as we were nearly done I was wondering, will the meal come out?! and it arrived at the perfect time, the staff's sense is no joke 👍 Do they even make a profit...?!

The abalone porridge was absolutely amazing..🦪 It's sold as a lunch menu item, and I regretted not getting some to go.. The braised black rockfish (heuktae-jjim) had great seasoning and lots of plump flesh, perfect as a side for the abalone porridge, and the tempura, need I say.. the crab tempura and shrimp tempura were so n~utty that I wondered if a tempura master 👩🏻‍🍳 was hiding in the kitchen, hahaha!
