Donbegi Gwangan Branch (돈베기 광안점) is an upscale two-floor Korean BBQ restaurant on Millakbondong-ro in Gwangalli, Suyeong, Busan. The writer ordered 2 servings of five-layer pork belly, doenjang jjigae sulbap (soybean paste stew simmered with rice) and cold kimchi kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) à la carte; the pork belly, grilled and plated by staff on a hexagonal grill, and the thick doenjang jjigae sulbap were the highlights. Donbegi Gwangan Branch covers atmosphere, meat and meal dishes alike, making it a family dinner and group gathering spot the writer would 100% revisit.

A married couple stopped by on a rainy weekend and ordered the 2-person seasonal sashimi and seafood platter couple set (₩77,000), surprised by a large tray piled with yellowtail and white fish sashimi plus live octopus, abalone and spoon worm (gaebul). For a Gwangan Bridge ocean view and the season's first yellowtail in one sitting, the Gwangalli Badangjip couple set is a good choice.

Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is an ocean-view sashimi restaurant on the 6th floor of a building right in front of the Millak fishing cooperative in Suyeong, Busan. The writer ordered the one-person Waterside Set (Subyeon Hansang) for two and ate a full course: abalone porridge, assorted seafood, a premium sashimi platter including bone-in sliced sekkoshi, spicy fish stew, flying fish roe rice, cream-sauce grilled merou and corn tempura. Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch was the writer's most satisfying stop of the whole Busan trip.

Jukrim Sutbul Dwaeji Gui (죽림숯불돼지구이) is a charcoal pork BBQ restaurant near Geumnyeonsan Station in Gwangalli, Suyeong, Busan, where staff grill the meat at every table. A couple arrived early in the evening, before the peak rush, with no wait. They had Iberico pluma, aged pork neck, aged pork belly and kimchi stew, all grilled by staff so nothing burned and the couple could simply talk. Gwangan Station pizzeria with friends, Classic Combo + pasta: Extra

Extra Mile is a pizza and pasta restaurant near Exit 5 of Gwangan Station in Suyeong-gu, Busan. On a weekend visit with friends, we ordered the Classic Combo (a pizza and pasta set for two) plus one extra pasta: a half hot honey pepperoni, half potato pizza, a bisque cream pasta and a tomato pasta. Before the food arrived, we passed the time with the coloring sheets left on the table. Thanks to its chewy cold-fermented dough and house-made sauces, Extra Mile is a great place in Gwangalli to enjoy pizza and pasta together.

Gwangalli ramen shop with 36-hour pork bone broth: Nagahama Mangetsu

Nagahama Mangetsu Gwangalli is an authentic Nagahama-style tonkotsu ramen shop in an alley near Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan, and the second branch of Nagahama Mangetsu in Haeundae.
