Sangbong Korean BBQ with under-seat bag storage: Super Naengsam
In short
Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch is a frozen pork belly restaurant a 3-minute walk from Exit 3 of Sangbong Station in Jungnang, Seoul. On a cool evening after work, four servings of frozen pork belly at 9,900 won each came with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) at 5,000 won and a 4,900-won draft beer, plus unlimited minari, kimchi and scallions from the self-serve banchan bar to grill on the pan. The chairs open up to hold bags away from the smell of grilled meat, making Super Naengsam an easy place for dinner and a drink on the way home.

A review of 'Sangbong Station pork belly restaurant Super Naengsam.' The heat wave had finally broken, and on a slightly cooler evening after work, feeling good about the weather, I decided to go for dinner and a drink. Here's my review of Super Naengsam, a Sangbong Station pork belly spot 🏃🏻♂️
Where is Super Naengsam Sangbong Main Branch, and when is it open?

The first thing I loved was the accessibility! It's just a 3-minute walk from Sangbong Station Exit 3, a perfect route for stopping by after work. Even before you arrive, you can spot it from a distance thanks to the huge sign with big letters spelling out Super Naengsam.
Inside Super Naengsam: bag storage built into the chairs
Inside the restaurant

Being a newly opened branch, the interior of this Sangbong Station pork belly spot was really clean and pleasant. There were plenty of tables with good spacing between them, making it a great spot for a meal out with friends. And since going to a pork belly restaurant usually means worrying about oil splatters or the smell of meat getting on your clothes or bag, I loved that you could lift the seat of the chairs to store your things inside.

The menu

Looking at the menu, the signature meat dish is a clean, single option — 'frozen pork belly'! For meals, they had stews and fried rice that pair perfectly with the meat, along with a range of alcoholic drinks. What especially caught my eye was the Hangang Ramyeon (ramen) — a perfect drinking snack, I thought. On one wall were the '5 Commandments of Super Naengsam,' tips for eating the meat deliciously, which was fun to read while waiting for the meat to arrive.

Right after ordering, the banchan (side dishes) were set out on a tray with a retro feel. The best part was that you could go back to the self-serve bar for unlimited refills of these hearty side dishes! 😋 Grilling the banchan on the pan makes them extra delicious, so my hand kept reaching for more — and being able to take as much as I wanted made it even more satisfying.
Four servings of frozen pork belly with doenjang jjigae and draft beer
What we ordered

- Frozen pork belly x4: ₩9,900 x4
- Doenjang jjigae: ₩5,000
- Rice: ₩1,000
- Draft beer (500ml): ₩4,900
After a short wait, the star of the show finally arrived — frozen pork belly! 😋 Being a newly opened place, the meat looked really fresh, and it came neatly plated with mushrooms on top.
I waited for the grill pan to heat up nicely before putting the meat on, sprinkling garlic seasoning and pepper on top before it fully cooked through. For reference, pepper was on every table, while the garlic seasoning was at the self-serve bar. Since it's frozen pork belly, it cooks quickly without a long wait, which I really loved!

Grilling minari, kimchi and scallions on the pan
As the meat turned golden brown, they grilled the minari (water celery), kimchi, and scallions that came as basic banchan right on the pan alongside it. One bite wrapping well-cooked meat with fragrant grilled minari, another bite with the golden grilled kimchi and scallions added on top!

Enjoying so many different combinations meant there was never a dull moment. As I kept happily popping pieces of pork belly into my mouth, I naturally craved a cold beer. It really felt like all the fatigue from the day melted away.

Finishing with self-made fried rice and doenjang jjigae
And the true finale of pork belly is always fried rice! We ordered a spicy, savory stew and a bowl of rice, then gathered up the leftover meat fat on the pan along with the grilled minari, kimchi, and other banchan, mixing and frying it all together deftly! Taking a bite of this homemade-style fried rice, then following it with a spoonful of hot stew broth, was the perfect ending. 💯 Another delicious meal, done and done❕❕😋
For a hearty dinner or a satisfying drink after work, I can't recommend this Sangbong Station pork belly spot, Super Naengsam, highly enough‼️👍🏻
