Danyang boiled pork ssambap, brass-bowl banchan: Heukmaneul Ssambap

Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap is a black garlic ssambap (rice-and-wrap set) restaurant near Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk. Two servings of black garlic boiled pork ssambap at 19,000 won each plus a black garlic squid stir-fry at 12,000 won filled the table with more than 7 side dishes in brass bowls, river snail gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste) and garlic rice. The black garlic sauce pork with garlic rice works well, so Danyang Heukmaneul Ssambap is worth a stop if you want the region's local garlic cooking.

Danyang bakery salt bread dipped in soft serve: Black Garlic Salt

Black Garlic Salt Bread is a salt bread bakery inside Danyang Gugyeong Market in Chungbuk. After sampling from the tasting corner, I ordered the signature black garlic salt bread (4,200 won) with a Sanghamokjang soft serve ice cream and dipped the warm bread straight into the ice cream for a sweet-and-salty bite. The black garlic salt bread, sold only in Danyang, tastes nutty rather than sharply garlicky, so it suits just about anyone.

Jecheon galbi restaurant with yuksam naengmyeon after Resom checkout

Deojinji Sutbul Galbi, Resom Baegun Branch is a Damyang-style charcoal galbi and marinated crab restaurant in Baegun-myeon, Jecheon, near Resom Forest. After checking out of Resom Forest, the writer came for lunch and ate charcoal galbi grilled before it reaches the table, soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab as side dishes, and yuksam naengmyeon to finish. The Resom pickup shuttle, booked in advance, made Deojinji easy to reach without a car.
