Today I've got a review of Deojinji, a charcoal galbi and crab restaurant that's perfect to stop by after a trip to Forest Resom in Jecheon!
So many of you must wonder "what should we eat for lunch?" after relaxing at Forest Resom and checking out. This place not only serves a neat, well-set table but also offers a Resom pickup service, so I could go without worrying about driving at all! From smoky Damyang-style galbi to crab so good it makes you eat extra rice, it was such a satisfying meal that I wanted to write it up in detail haha.

Where is Deojinji in Baegun, Jecheon, and where do you park?
Located near Forest Resom in Jecheon, Deojinji catches the eye with its elegant red brick and clean exterior. The parking lot in front is also very spacious, so it's convenient to visit by car too.

How the Resom pickup shuttle to Deojinji works
The biggest advantage of this place is that it runs a Resom pickup service! With a pickup vehicle ready, it looked really convenient to book in advance if you're moving without a car after checking out of Resom, or if you want to travel comfortably together with family.

Inside Deojinji: dining room and the open charcoal grilling station
Walking inside, the spacious, clean tables were neatly arranged. The big windows let in plenty of sunlight, and the tidy interior made it a great atmosphere to bring parents or kids along.

What especially caught my eye was the open-flame charcoal grilling zone on one side of the restaurant! Before it reaches your table, a specialist grills the galbi directly over charcoal, browning it as if smoking it. Thanks to that, you get to enjoy freshly grilled, still-warm charcoal galbi without worrying about your clothes smelling like meat.

Deojinji menu and what we ordered
Looking at the menu, there was a hearty 2-person set course as well as a variety of Korean set-meal options like charcoal LA galbi, handmade pork galbi, and crab set meals. We ordered the signature set that lets you enjoy Damyang-style charcoal galbi and crab together.

On one side of the restaurant, there's also a hygienically managed self-serve bar where you can help yourself to more side dishes!

Soy-marinated and spicy marinated crab, served as side dishes
After ordering, side dishes were set one by one in neat brassware bowls. From salad to seasoned vegetables to kimchi, every dish was clean and neatly presented.
The soy marinated crab (ganjang gejang) and spicy marinated crab (yangnyeom gejang) served as basic sides were the perfect rice thieves! The soy version wasn't salty at all, with a deep, savory sweetness, while the spicy version had a sweet-and-spicy sauce soaked right into the crab meat — either one alone could finish a bowl of rice.

The doenjang jjigae (fermented soybean paste stew) that came along was also packed with tofu, savory and slightly spicy — perfect to pair with the meat.

How does Deojinji's Damyang-style handmade charcoal galbi taste?
Finally, the Damyang-style handmade charcoal galbi, browned to perfection over charcoal, arrived sizzling on a hot plate! I cut it into bite-sized pieces and took a taste — the moment I bit in, juicy meat juices and deep charcoal smoke flavor filled my mouth. It was truly excellent.

The meat wasn't tough at all — it was tender and chewed easily. The sweet-savory marinade wasn't overpowering and had a nice nutty flavor, so whether I dipped it lightly in the special sauce or wrapped it in fragrant lettuce with garlic, it was incredibly satisfying.
Finishing with yuksam naengmyeon in icy broth
After the meat, of course you need to finish with cool naengmyeon (cold noodles)! It arrived in a neat brassware bowl with icy-cold broth, and the broth was really clean and refreshing. I highly recommend the yuksam naengmyeon combo — wrapping a saved piece of charcoal galbi in the chewy noodles and eating it together.

The prize draw after the meal
On the way out after finishing our meal, I noticed that leaving a Naver receipt review gets you one round of a nostalgic gacha draw! You can walk away with small gifts kids love, like Pororo drinks, which made even the very end of the meal fun.
If you're looking for a lunch spot after checking out of Forest Resom, or if you want to enjoy proper charcoal galbi and crab set meals in Jecheon, I strongly recommend Deojinji! From the convenient pickup service to the clean interior to the excellent meat, it was a perfect experience.
Another delicious meal today 🙂🙂
