Gyeongju walnut pastry shop with a yellow parasol terrace: Buja Hodu

Buja Hodu is a handmade walnut pastry dessert shop on Hwangnidan-gil in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. The outdoor terrace in front of Buja Hodu, set with yellow parasols, is a photo spot, and the 24pcs mix — 6 red bean, 6 green pea cream cheese, 6 matcha and 6 of your choice — was taken to go with an Americano blended and roasted by a Gyeongju coffee master. Verdict: the pastries are packed full with big pieces of walnut, so they work just as well as a gift.

Pohang mulhoe restaurant with tablet ordering: Ppwang Mulhoe

Ppwang Mulhoe is an ocean-view mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) restaurant on Haean-ro in the Yeongildae area of Pohang. Every table has a tablet, and the order screen even has a checkbox for cucumber in or out, so two double portions of squid mulhoe went in that way, with side dishes taken from a self bar that refills without limit from start to finish. The icy broth stretched far enough for somyeon noodles and a bowl of rice at the end — a genuinely filling meal for two.
