Pohang mulhoe restaurant with tablet ordering: Ppwang Mulhoe
In short
Ppwang Mulhoe is an ocean-view mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) restaurant on Haean-ro in the Yeongildae area of Pohang. Every table has a tablet, and the order screen even has a checkbox for cucumber in or out, so two double portions of squid mulhoe went in that way, with side dishes taken from a self bar that refills without limit from start to finish. The icy broth stretched far enough for somyeon noodles and a bowl of rice at the end — a genuinely filling meal for two.

A restaurant with an ocean view over Yeongildae AND a buffet-style self bar? That's Ppwang Mulhoe.
Where is Ppwang Mulhoe, and what about parking and hours?
Ppwang Mulhoe is a mulhoe (cold raw fish soup) restaurant at 203-1 Haean-ro, 1st floor, Buk-gu, Pohang-si, Gyeongbuk, right by Yeongildae beach. It's open from 10:30 to 22:00, with last order at 21:00. Inside there are separate men's/women's restrooms, a waiting area, and high chairs, and both takeout and pets are allowed.

The exterior
I visited Ppwang Mulhoe, a mulhoe spot known around Yeongildae in Pohang! It's right near the sea so it's super easy to find, and the location is amazing. There's parking out front for up to 5-6 cars, so it's good to know if you're driving.
Oh, and pets are allowed too, so it's perfect for stopping by for a great meal after a walk around Yeongildae with your pup! 🐾🐶
Pink interior and ocean-view seats at Ppwang Mulhoe

The interior
Walking inside, you're greeted by a bright, stylish pink-toned interior, and the space was really clean and spacious!! The tables were spaced far apart too, making it easy to chat, and the tidy, well-arranged look really boosted my impression.
Best of all was the wide-open ocean view through the windows — being able to eat while looking out at the open sea was a genuinely big plus. The atmosphere is good enough for a date spot, and it's also a great place to grab some great photos with friends 🪟💙

Tablet ordering: cucumber in or out
The full menu
Every table at Ppwang Mulhoe has a tablet installed, so I could comfortably pick and order the menu. I ordered two squid mulhoe (double portions)! When ordering through the tablet, there was even a separate checkbox letting you choose whether or not to include cucumber 📱🥒

The unlimited self bar for side dishes
The side dishes
After ordering, I went to the self bar to grab side dishes and my eyes literally went wide. The sides are all self-serve from the start, but the quality was great and unlimited, which got my mouth watering before I'd even started the main dish. Being able to take as much as I wanted made this a perfect self bar for both value and satisfaction.

Squid mulhoe double portion: how big is it, and how does it taste?
Squid mulhoe (double portion)
Finally, tasting the main event — the squid mulhoe double portion — the look of it alone made me gasp. Generous piles of fresh squid sit on top, and once you pour on the sweet-and-tangy icy broth, it's ready to eat. The squid was so chewy and fresh, with zero fishy smell, that a sweet flavor spread through my mouth the more I chewed.
Eating it together with thinly sliced pear added a crunchy texture that doubled the fun of chewing. The bright red, cool icy broth itself wasn't artificially sharp — it wasn't overly heavy, but clean with a deep savoriness that kept my spoon moving.
Somyeon noodles first, rice in the broth at the end
As the broth melted and soaked into every gap between the fresh raw squid, it really felt like a party going off in my mouth!!! Dropping in the springy somyeon noodles from the self bar, letting them soak up the broth, and slurping them down with the chewy squid gave a refreshing feeling that cleared me out to the bone.
Being a double portion, it was so generous that it never seemed to run out no matter how much I ate — I nearly burst. At the end, I mixed a bit of rice into the leftover broth and cleaned it all up, the perfect finish.
