Our anniversary date at Hado in Haenggung-dong
Hado is a Western-style course restaurant on Hyanggyo-ro in Haenggung-dong, Suwon. This time I went for an anniversary date with my boyfriend and booked a table for two through Naver Reservation. It's famous as a Haenggung-dong date spot with a lovely atmosphere, and I'd heard so much about how pretty it is that I'd been dying to go, haha. People said it's especially good for anniversaries, so I showed up kind of excited, haha.
Where to park for Hado in Suwon
For parking, use the Gyodong public parking lot right next to the restaurant. The first hour is free, and after that it's an extra ₩300 per 10 minutes! Pretty fine for visiting by car, heh.

Hado's atmosphere: antique exterior and dim indirect lighting
Hado gives off antique vibes from the outside, haha. It feels like a small, old European restaurant, you know?

Inside was even prettier. The lighting is dim overall, with soft indirect lamps glowing here and there, and the wine bottles are displayed so stylishly that I loved the mood, haha. It's not too flashy, but it feels classy and calm.

Hado also has a long bar table, which looked great for coming alone and having a casual glass of wine.

There are hangers for your coat, and they even have lap blankets for guests wearing short skirts. Love this kind of thoughtfulness! haha

A CD and couple earphone jacks at every table?
Every table at Hado has CDs, so you can pick the one you want and listen to the music, and there's even an earphone jack that a couple can share, lol. I'd never seen anything like it and found it so fascinating, haha. On top of that, all the CDs were totally my boyfriend's taste, so we were both busy listening, haha! Getting to enjoy music you love while eating good food adds to the fun of a date.
Hado basic course: price and what's included
Here's the menu at Hado in Haenggung-dong.

We ordered the Hado basic course, which is ₩45,000 per person, so ₩90,000 for two. If you add ₩21,000 to the basic line you can switch to a top blade sous vide steak, but we went with the standard chicken breast, yep.

Also, if you join the receipt review event, they give you a refreshing rooibos apple lemon tea in a takeout cup, hehe. Seems like a great way to finish after the meal?
Starters: pea tart and sweet shrimp apple tart

The starters in the Hado basic course are a pea tart and a sweet shrimp apple tart!

They were so pretty, small and adorable, haha. The thin tart shell shatters crisply in your mouth, which I loved. It's piled with peas, and together with the smooth sauce it tasted nutty and mild. The sweet shrimp apple tart was an interesting combo too, yep. The tender sweet shrimp plus the fresh taste of apple went together much better than I expected. Both are a nice light way to get your appetite going.
Main: what does minari yuja bisque pasta taste like?

Next up was the minari yuja bisque pasta! Personally, this was the dish I liked best in this Hado course, haha. It's pasta with a minari (water dropwort) sauce, and at first I was so curious what it would taste like.
On the first bite, minari's distinctive fragrance came through softly, followed by a fresh burst of yuja (citron) aroma, haha. The pasta was cooked just right, neither too soft nor too firm. The shrimp was fluffy and tender and went well with the sauce, yep. I especially loved the seasoning of the sauce. It's not too salty or harsh, and the flavors of the ingredients blend together naturally. It stays clean-tasting the more you eat, so good, haha.
Chicken breast sous vide steak: is it dry?

Then came the chicken breast sous vide steak! Honestly, I worried chicken breast might be a bit dry, but it was totally different... Maybe because it's cooked sous vide, the inside was moist and really tender.

I barely felt that stiff texture chicken breast usually has. It went well with the smooth sauce served alongside, and the flavor got much better when I ate it with the roasted garlic. The nutty garlic aroma seemed to bring out the mild taste of the chicken, lol. Even without upgrading to the top blade, I was plenty satisfied, yep.
Dessert: Earl Grey ice cream with caramel sauce

The last dessert in the Hado basic course is Earl Grey ice cream! It's generously drizzled with caramel sauce and comes with crunchy bits and a thin piece of chocolate. You snap the thin chocolate and eat it with the ice cream, and that was so good too, lol. The cold, smooth ice cream with sweet caramel sauce plus the crispy texture was great. A perfect dessert to end on a sweet note, haha.

After the meal, they even gave each of us mouthwash. It felt like they cared right to the very end, which I liked, lol.
Is Hado worth it for an anniversary date in Haenggung-dong?
Overall I was satisfied with Hado, from the atmosphere to the food! Every dish looked pretty and was great for photos, and the taste was clean with well-judged seasoning, haha. The course and portions were just right for us, yep. Listening to music with my boyfriend under the soft lighting and eating at a relaxed pace made the mood even better.
If you're looking for a Haenggung-dong date restaurant, or want a meal somewhere with a nice atmosphere for a special anniversary, I think Hado is a good choice, haha. I think I'll remember it for our next anniversary too!
