After-work raw fish pub in Wolsan-dong, Gwangju: hamo sashimi for 4

Today's spot is a place I went to after work with the guys from my favorite Gwangju info chat room, plus my younger sister! I'd like to introduce Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha Gwangju Wolsan Branch (황금회포차 광주월산점), a good raw fish restaurant, date spot and pub in Wolsan-dong.

Where is Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha Gwangju Wolsan Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha Gwangju Wolsan Branch is at 104 Gunbun-ro, Nam-gu, Gwangju (1st floor, Wolsan-dong 996-65). It's open 11:00 to 24:00, with last order at 23:00. There's plenty of parking~ ^0^

The seasonal menu right now is hamo (pike conger) sashimi, hamo shabu-shabu, live squid sashimi and seafood mulhoe (cold spicy raw fish soup)~! At least that's what they say~~ ^^ Here's the seasonal menu.

The menu has lots of options~! Since this was our first stop of the night, we ordered hamo sashimi for 2 plus soju and beer~!

What do the free side dishes (sukkidashi) look like?

When we ordered the hamo sashimi, out came a spread of sides (called ski here) full of things I love: corn salad, green onion pancake, other jeon (pan-fried pancakes), herring and more~!

How do you eat the hamo sashimi at Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha?

The hamo sashimi at Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha Gwangju Wolsan Branch was delicious plain, and also wrapped in onion or lettuce. I love hamo~~ and while hamo shabu-shabu is great too, classic is classic! The simple, back-to-basics hamo sashimi was seriously good!! haha

Wrapped in onion, it's a real treat. hahaha

The hamo sashimi is so good that it's great plain, great wrapped in onion, and great wrapped in lettuce! hahaha Hamo is so tasty it has zero calories~ ^^

Me, wrapping hamo sashimi in onion~~ haha I took my signature "Bbanggnature" (Bbang's selfie) again that day. Happy Bbangman~ ^^

Is Hwanggeum Hoe Pocha Gwangju Wolsan Branch good for team dinners and dates?

The staff are friendly and the hamo is great, so I'd recommend it for get-togethers, team dinners and dates alike. BMI 29 Bbang and the guys from the Gwangju info chat room, plus my sister, enjoyed hamo sashimi here, and the four of us drank 4 bottles of soju and 2 bottles of beer~ ^^

Classic is classic, and it was so good I was happy. haha I was glad my close friends and my sister enjoyed it too. haha My sister was a little late after finishing her own plans, but even though we were meeting for the first time, she was so warm and friendly! It was so good that we plan to come back!

The staff also served us kindly, which I really liked. I'm going to have a team dinner with my coworkers soon~! I think it would be a good place for that, and if you have a partner, it would make for a very satisfying date!
