What is Hyeonseonine Yongsan Main Branch?
Hyeonseonine (현선이네) Yongsan is a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) snack bar on Yongridan-gil, close to Yongsan Station, so it's a good place for a simple but filling meal. I was hunting for a good tteokbokki place in Yongsan, and it was easy to get to and just right for a meal!!
While looking around the shop I noticed they also serve instant tteokbokki (cooked at the table), and it looked really appetizing! I thought I definitely want to try it next time. If you love tteokbokki, keep an eye on that menu too. Quite a few tables were having it, so it's my pick for the next visit haha
The menu is varied, so it looked great for eating solo or coming with friends. It's good for a quick meal, and perfect after shopping or a movie in Yongsan. Being so close to Yongsan Station, even first-timers should have no trouble finding it.

What's in the Hyeonseoni Combo Set, and how does it taste?
The Hyeonseon combo set gives you tteokbokki, fried snacks and sundae (Korean blood sausage) all at once, so you can order without agonizing over the menu. The portion is quite generous too, plenty for two to share!
Tteokbokki: sweet and spicy sauce that isn't overpowering
The sweet and spicy sauce isn't harsh, so it was easy to eat, and the rice cakes were chewy enough that I kept reaching for more. The broth is rich too, and dipping the fritters in it was really good :)
Fried snacks: dipped in the tteokbokki sauce
The fritters came out crispy and went perfectly with the tteokbokki sauce! They stayed crunchy without getting soggy, which I loved. Snack-bar fritters really are best dunked in tteokbokki sauce haha
Sundae (Korean blood sausage): chewy with no gamey smell
The sundae was chewy with no off smell, and I enjoyed it. What I liked most about the combo set was being able to try so many different things!!

Hyeonseonine Yongsan atmosphere: is it good for eating alone?
The inside is clean and comfortable for a meal, and the mood is easy for eating alone too. Being near Yongsan Station, it also seems handy for a stop while shopping or before meeting someone.
I've been really into hunting down good places on Yongridan-gil lately, and this feels like one more spot I'd go back to whenever I crave snack-bar food. If you want to try a bit of everything, I recommend the Hyeonseon combo set.

If you're looking for a good tteokbokki place in Yongsan, give Hyeonseonine a visit. It's good value and generous, and the meal was satisfying :)!!
Does Hyeonseonine Yongsan sell slushes?
Yes, they sell slushes, so you can have one with your snacks. That was my favorite part personally! When you're eating something a little spicy and crunchy like tteokbokki or fritters, you start craving a cold drink, and the slush pairs really well.
On a hot day like these, a cold slush felt like it cleaned up my palate, which made it even more satisfying. Not that many snack bars sell slushes, so I liked being able to enjoy one with the food here. I'll definitely order a slush again next time haha
Is Hyeonseonine good for a family meal in Yongsan?
The menu is varied enough that I thought it would be great for families. Besides tteokbokki and fritters that kids love, there's sundae and instant tteokbokki, so everyone can order to their taste and enjoy it together.
If you're looking for a family meal spot in Yongsan, it seems an easy, casual snack-bar choice. It covers everything from a light bite to a hearty meal, so people of all ages should be happy. If you're planning a weekend outing in Yongsan with family, I recommend stopping by! :)
I enjoy exploring Yongridan-gil's eateries these days, and Hyeonseonine Yongsan will stay in my memory as an easy snack bar to drop into. The Hyeonseon combo set especially scored high for letting you enjoy many dishes at once. Next time I'm going back for the instant tteokbokki!
