Jeju City black pork BBQ with staff grilling: Sicheong Geuttaegeujip
In short
Sicheong Geuttaegeujip (시청그때그집) is an aged Jeju black pork barbecue restaurant on Donggwang-ro 1-gil, near Jeju City Hall. Arriving at 7pm, the writer ordered the aged black pork set for two (one serving each of pork belly and pork neck) with mild Hallasan soju, and a staff member charcoal-seared the meat and grilled it through at the table. The kimchi stew came with free ramen noodles and steamed egg on the side, making Sicheong Geuttaegeujip unusually generous for the price.

This review includes some paid-for content that I ordered myself 🥨
If you're visiting Jeju, black pork is one thing you absolutely can't skip. To make the most of my Jeju trip and get a great dinner in, I went hunting for a black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport.

Where is Sicheong Geuttaegeujip, and where do you park?
200℃ Twice-Grilled Black Pork Sicheong Geuttaegeujip is located at 11 Donggwang-ro 1-gil, 1st floor, Jeju-si, Jeju-do. It's about a 10-minute drive from my accommodation, close enough that I took the bus instead of a rental car, and it turned out to be easy to find by public transit too.
Right in front of the restaurant is the Gwangyang public parking lot, which offers 30 minutes free, and on weekends you can apparently park along the road in front without getting ticketed, so drivers can visit comfortably too 🌸

The dining room and self-serve corner at 7pm
We arrived a little after 7pm, right in the middle of dinner peak time.

Walking inside, I found roughly 20 tables for four spread out generously, so the dining room felt quite spacious and comfortable.

There were quite a few customers around, so I mostly photographed the spots where no one was sitting.
One corner of the restaurant had a self-serve fried egg station where you can fry your own eggs, available until 3pm — good to know if you're coming for lunch.

And near the entrance they had refreshing tangerine juice and sweet sikhye (a traditional rice punch) set out, which gave off that generous Jeju hospitality vibe ✨

What we ordered: the aged Jeju black pork set for two and mild Hallasan soju
We went with the hearty aged Jeju black pork set for two, which comes with a serving each of pork belly and pork neck. And to really get into the Jeju spirit, we also ordered Hallasan, Jeju's signature soju.
Hallasan soju came in an original version and a milder one — since the mild version is still 16 percent, it seemed like it would go down smoothly, so we chose the mild Hallasan.

Side dishes and the self-serve bar
Once we ordered, the table filled up with a really gorgeous, neatly arranged spread.

There was bracken fern perfect for grilling on the pan, crunchy bean sprouts, cabbage kimchi, fragrant green onion strips, plus pickled onion, salad, seaweed salad full of ocean flavor, pickled perilla leaves, pickled radish, fresh lettuce wraps, and of course melljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), which is a must with black pork.
Any side dishes that ran low could be freely refilled from the central self-serve bar.

With the lunch special menu, rice is unlimited, and with a regular meal you can add a bowl of rice for ₩1,000.

Free kimchi stew, with free ramen noodles too
And the quality of the complimentary kimchi stew was seriously impressive.

It was packed with big chunks of tofu and meat in a stone pot, and they even threw in free ramen noodles — this stew alone was hearty enough to finish off a whole bottle of soju 😋

Charcoal-seared black pork, grilled for you by the staff
Not long after, the black pork set came out from the kitchen, having gone through a light charcoal searing process.

Alongside the thick, beautifully colored pork neck and belly were two big black tiger shrimp and mushrooms — the whole thing looked so good my mouth was already watering.
A staff member checked the temperature of the grill, then carefully placed the meat, shrimp, and mushrooms on it and grilled it for us with real care.

As the meat cooked to a golden brown, the staff kept the conversation friendly and easygoing, and they were so kind that I felt genuinely well taken care of while I waited.
On one side of the grill, where the fat pools, they placed bean sprouts, cabbage kimchi, and bracken fern and grilled them until nutty and fragrant, and near the end they piled green onion strips and onion in the middle and stir-fried everything together — a real display of skill.
Right as the meat was nearly done, the fluffy yet dense and tender steamed egg in a stone pot arrived as a complimentary side, and the table was completely full.

How the black pork tasted: garlic-sauce pork neck and myeoljeot dip
The staff recommended trying a thick piece of black pork neck first, dipped generously in their special garlic sauce.

The outside was golden and the inside burst with rich juices, blending beautifully with the sweet, sharp flavor of the garlic — it was truly excellent.
Then wrapping the grilled bracken fern with rich melljeot, savory sesame oil dip, and ssamjang, alternating between them, I finally understood why everyone comes to Jeju for black pork.

Dropping the free ramen noodles into the complimentary kimchi stew made the broth turn thick, spicy, and deep, and slurping down the noodles was every bit as fun 🌸

The meat was so good that I felt a little sad it was running out, so I ordered an extra serving of black pork belly.

The staff came back to the table and grilled the extra order all the way through to a perfect golden brown as well, so I got to enjoy it down to the very last piece.
Is Sicheong Geuttaegeujip worth a visit in Jeju City?
Between the friendly grilling service, excellent meat quality, and the generous stew and free ramen noodles, this was a hugely satisfying black pork restaurant near Jeju Airport.
