I tried three AutoGrooming car-care products while washing my glass-coated Tesla myself. The lineup was designed to be divided up according to the level of grime, and the different colors made the products easy to tell apart.
How are the three car-care products distinguished?
The red one is introduced as acidic, the indigo one as alkaline, and the blue one as mildly alkaline. They are distinguished by the names Red Dissolve Dual Wash, Indigo Core Pre-Wash, and Blue Edge Shampoo, respectively.
This wash began with the purple Indigo Core Pre-Wash. The original post also pointed out that you should let the car cool down sufficiently before starting.
When choosing a product according to the amount of grime, it was handy that I could identify them at a glance by color.
What is the alkaline pre-wash dilution ratio and order of use?
According to the original post, the alkaline pre-wash dilution ratio is 1:10–1:20 for a foam lance and 1:100 for a pump sprayer. The specific ratio chosen for this wash was not recorded separately.
After spraying the Indigo Pre-Wash, I rinsed it off thoroughly before the product could dry. I made sure to rinse sufficiently before moving on from the pre-wash step.
What were the bottle and scent like in use?
The delivered products came with a narrow-spout cap. It was convenient to swap out the standard cap and use it. All three products had the same square, cube-shaped bottle; only the colors differed.
The scent during the wash was memorable too. My boyfriend, who washed the car with me, said the scent was nice and made the car wash feel pleasant.
Which product did I use after the pre-wash?
After rinsing the Indigo Pre-Wash, I did a bucket wash with Blue Edge Shampoo. When the grime was not severe, I felt that rinsing first with high-pressure water and then doing a bucket wash was enough.
For ordinary grime, when the car has been rained on, or during the rainy season, the original post also introduced an order of using the acidic Red Dissolve Dual Wash for the bucket wash after Indigo Pre-Wash. However, the results of using the red product alone were not recorded separately.
The Tesla was clean after the wash. What stayed with me from this use were the easy color-based product distinction, the interchangeable cap, and the scent during the wash.
