What is Downtown Daegu Believe Heritage like?

Downtown Daegu Believe Heritage (다운타우너 대구빌리브헤리티지점) is a handmade burger shop on Deuran-ro 73-gil in Suseong, Daegu, and it's the first Downtown branch in the Gyeongsang region. Downtown is a fast & premium burger brand that uses fresh ingredients so busy city people can eat quickly and comfortably, or so they say? With the title of first Gyeongsang branch attached, I, as a Daegu person, couldn't just walk past it.

I'm sure lots of people had been waiting for it as a Suseong, Daegu food spot, and I was one of them. It's been open for quite a while, and I'm only getting around to visiting now^^;;

What's the atmosphere and seating like?

The space is bright and neat, done in white and wood tones. I felt happy the moment I walked in, and comfortable as soon as I sat down.

The seating is varied, with tables for 2, tables for 4 and group tables, so it works for solo meals, family dinners or get-togethers with friends.

The spacing between tables is decent too, so we could eat comfortably without worrying about the next table.

Onion pickle self bar and drink refills

They run a self-service onion pickle bar with two kinds: regular onion pickles and spicy onion pickles. Nibbling them between bites of burger cuts the richness and freshens your mouth, so I'd definitely recommend having them alongside.

Drinks are self-service too, and you can refill as much as you like, which was great.

Downtown menu prices and new items

Prices range from about ₩6,000 to ₩12,000 per single item. That's reasonable for a handmade burger, and given the quality of the ingredients it seems fair to me~

Two newly released Bulgogi Smash Burgers caught my eye: the Bulgogi Smash Burger, with a smashed, crispy-outside, juicy-inside bulgogi (marinated beef) patty and classic bulgogi mayo, and the Egg Bulgogi Smash Burger, which adds a fried egg on top. I thought about trying the new ones, but as someone who loves avocado, I went with the Avocado Burger~ haha

Three burgers the family ordered

That day we ordered three things at Downtown: the Avocado Burger set, the Downtown Burger and the Crispy Chicken Burger.

What does the Avocado Burger taste like?

The Downtown Avocado Burger comes with a beef patty, avocado, bacon, American cheese, grilled onion, romaine, tomato and ranch sauce. The moment you bite in, rich beef aroma comes first, followed by the heavy, nutty creaminess of the avocado.

Then the fresh, creamy ranch sauce joins in, and the three flavors fit together perfectly. It wasn't greasy, and I finished it cleanly down to the last bite.

The signature Downtown Burger

The Downtown Burger is made of a beef patty, bacon, American cheese, grilled onion, romaine, tomato and house sauce. It shares its name with the restaurant, so my husband figured it must be the signature item and ordered it.

My husband doesn't like cheese, but he ate the Downtown Burger with no objection, haha

Crispy Chicken Burger for the kid

The Crispy Chicken Burger normally comes with coleslaw and ranch sauce, but for my child, who doesn't eat vegetables much, I ordered it without the coleslaw. The patty itself is so crunchy that my son, who loves fried chicken, ate it happily and said it was delicious 😄

The bun wrapped around the burger was impressive too. It's generously sprinkled with sesame seeds that boost the nutty flavor, and it blends softly with the fillings, keeping the taste balanced to the end.

Pros and cons of Downtown Daegu Believe Heritage

Pros

• First Downtown branch in Gyeongsang, which is special in itself
• Clean white-toned interior, a space that lifts your mood as soon as you walk in
• Varied seating, from tables for 2 to group tables
• Onion pickle self bar (regular + spicy, 2 kinds)
• Self-service drink refills
• Solid combinations of ingredients and sauces in every burger
• 1 hour of free parking at Doyu Suseong parking lot when you spend ₩30,000 or more

Cons

• No dedicated parking, so it's best to work out your parking plan before visiting

Is it worth going back for handmade burgers in Suseong, Daegu?

If you want a properly made handmade burger in Suseong, Daegu, Downtown Daegu Believe Heritage is worth a visit.

It's more than just a Seoul brand landing in Daegu: the ingredient combinations and the finish of the flavors were better than I expected. The Avocado Burger especially, where I didn't know beef, avocado and ranch sauce could go together this well, gave me a reason to come back.
