I went back to Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza, a place near Hapjeong Station that's held the same spot for 15 years, for the Nth time. I've been coming here since before COVID — the wood-fired pizza is so good that once you taste it, you keep coming back and back. And it's not just the pizza that's great, so I'll introduce another must-try menu item too.

From Hapjeong Station, served by Line 2 and Line 6, walk 433m from Exit 6 — about 5 minutes. Come out of Exit 6, follow the sidewalk down, and you'll see Hongik Animal Hospital; Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza is on the left.

It's also close to Sangsu Station on Line 6, about a 5-minute walk. From Sangsu Station Exit 1, pass Red Road and cross past Samhwa Paint, and you'll spot Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza.

So many of the restaurants and cafés I used to love have been disappearing lately, which makes me sad..... So I was genuinely grateful that Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza has held this spot for 15 years, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone planning a blind date, a date, or a get-together with friends in Hongdae or Hapjeong.

Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza clearly carries the traces of countless people who've passed through over the years. The warm atmosphere seems to ease any awkwardness on a first blind date, and it's even better for a date. It's also a great place to hang out with friends.

That day, my friend and I visited together and ordered wood-fired pizza, pasta, and an ade, and enjoyed them all.

Orange ade, 7,000 won

An orange ade packed with refreshing orange. I wasn't expecting much, but it was so good — it pairs well with the pizza, and it's also a great match with my favorite Gamberi e Crema shrimp cream pasta!

Quattro Stagioni pizza, 26,000 won

This pizza lets you try all of Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza's best menu items at once, so it's perfect for two people to share. You get to taste all four flavors — Quattro Formaggi, Croccante, Margherita, and Diavola. It's the restaurant's signature dish, and I genuinely recommend it.

The appeal of wood-fired pizza is really the thin dough and the fresh toppings on top, plus the joy of eating it straight out of the oven. Sticking to one flavor is nice, but it's also fun to try a variety.

Gamberi e Crema shrimp cream pasta, 18,500 won

A pasta with a spicy cream sauce, shrimp and mushrooms for flavor, and cheese melted with the heat of the wood oven for a richer, deeper taste,

this is the dish I always order whenever I visit Hongdae Hwadeok Pizza. It's really, really good...... It's not easy to find a restaurant that pulls off flavor this deep and delicious!
