Jonggak Station Korean BBQ with cheese bomb kimchi fried rice: Yukrab

In short

Yukrab Jongno is a charcoal-grill beef and lamb Korean BBQ restaurant on the 3rd floor, a 3-minute walk from Jonggak Station in Jongno, Seoul. Two diners shared the 2-person galbi set of jingalbisal (premium beef rib finger meat), lamb ribs and marinated galbi, then added steamed egg and cheese bomb kimchi fried rice. The verdict: even when you're full, order the cheese bomb kimchi fried rice at Yukrab Jongno, and the mostly private rooms make it a good spot for a Jongno group dinner.

Today I want to introduce Yukrab Jongno, a restaurant near Jonggak Station that I'd recommend for Korean BBQ. Yukrab Jongno is a place where Australian/American wagyu can boast great value and flavor compared to Korean beef of the same marbling grade — the reason, it turns out, is that they own and run their own internal distribution company, so quality control and value for the meat are both solid.

(Looking at these photos makes me want to eat it all again,,,★) We ordered the set menu and the portion was huge, so it's a great place to visit with big-eater friends too — let's start the post!

Getting to Yukrab Jongno — 3 minutes from Jonggak Station, 3rd floor

Yukrab, which I'm recommending as a Jonggak Station beef restaurant, is just a 3-minute walk from Jonggak Station! Take the elevator up to the 3rd floor and you're there ~~

And most of the space at Yukrab is private rooms. Being private rooms makes it the best spot for a Jongno group dinner!

Inside Yukrab Jongno — 4-, 6-, and 8-person private rooms

They have 4-person rooms as well as 6/8-person rooms, and rooms can be combined, so even larger groups can be accommodated. Great for a Jongno group dinner, good good.

Non-room hall seating at Yukrab Jongno

Of course, there are also seats outside the rooms, but from what I remember there were only about 4 of them.

We visited with a reservation, so all the side dishes were already set up :) I'd recommend you all reserve ahead before visiting too.

The side dish spread

A good BBQ restaurant needs a varied side dish spread! Great sauces to dip the meat in and a really diverse array of side dishes at this Jongno beef restaurant, Yukrab!

The 2-person galbi set — jingalbisal, lamb chops, marinated galbi

Menu board at Yukrab Jongno

This is Yukrab Jongno's menu. Since there were two of us, we ordered the galbi set from among the 2-person sets. (In the end, a super satisfying combination.) Composition: jingalbisal (chuck flap tail) + lamb chops + marinated galbi.

And after waiting, today's stars make their appearance ~ the marbling on the meat is unreal, right?

Even up close, the marbling is unreal.

The good thing about beef = it's thin, so you can eat it fast. Oh! And of course, it's almost too obvious to say it tastes good!!

Personally, eating it with their handmade wasabi made it disappear fast.

After we gave the lamb chops a rough grill, the staff cut them for us directly. Experts really are different. And as you can see from the video,,,, it cuts along the grain so easily,,,★ Why? Because Yukrab's lamb isn't just slaughtered conventionally — they only use halal-certified young lamb!!!

Add-ons — steamed egg and cheese-bomb kimchi fried rice

Extra order of steamed egg
Cheese-bomb kimchi fried rice

And on top of all that, we thoroughly ordered steamed egg and cheese-bomb kimchi fried rice as add-ons. Honestly, we were already stuffed from all the meat, but please, please order the cheese-bomb kimchi fried rice. Egg on the bottom + cheese on top — need I say more!!

And so, two piggies in Jongno thoroughly, thoroughly ate our way through beef and lamb alike ♥
