Gwangalli sunset brunch café with an acai bowl: Famous Benny

In short

Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is a brunch café in Minnak-dong, Suyeong-gu, Busan, a short walk from Gwangalli Beach. Arriving just as the sun started to set, I ordered the acai bowl for 9,000 won and the garlic butter eggs for 14,000 won, and the garlic butter eggs — crisp sourdough dipped into poached egg and chili garlic butter — were the most memorable dish. Those two plates alone were filling enough that dinner was out of the question.

Sunset brunch in Gwangalli at Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch

I took my time this day, and by the time I arrived at Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch, the sun was just starting to set. It was nice to enjoy brunch with a different vibe than daytime Gwangalli haha.

When you're looking for a brunch spot in Gwangalli, the café atmosphere matters, but so does the menu, right? I wanted somewhere with dishes hearty enough to feel like a real meal rather than just drinks, and Famous Benny turned out to be pretty good for that!

What Famous Benny feels like in the late afternoon

Walking inside, the atmosphere was great for enjoying a relaxed brunch. Since it was afternoon, there was plenty of time to eat leisurely, and visiting at sunset meant the light coming through the windows looked really pretty!

I thought this would be a good spot for anyone looking for a date-night meal in Gwangalli, or for people searching for a brunch spot in Minnak-dong.

What I ordered at Famous Benny and what it cost

The dishes I ordered this time were the Acai Bowl for 9,000 won and the Garlic Butter Eggs for 14,000 won!

Both dishes were good picks for brunch, but the one that personally stuck with me the most was the Garlic Butter Eggs.

The Garlic Butter Eggs comes with yogurt, chili garlic butter, a poached egg, sourdough, onion, and mixed seeds. At first I was curious what a brunch dish topped with poached egg would taste like, but it was way more delicious than I expected!

I especially loved the sourdough, toasted until crispy. Rather than just eating the bread plain, popping the poached egg and dipping it into the yolk and sauce together was genuinely delicious. When you break the egg, the yolk flows out softly, and combined with the chili garlic butter sauce, the flavor really comes alive.

Crispy bread, soft poached egg, and the sauce together made for a fun texture too! It was soft yet crispy, savory with a slight kick of spice, the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for more haha.

Maybe it's because I love this type of brunch dish, but I really wanted to recommend the Garlic Butter Eggs! Especially if you like dipping bread into sauce, you'll enjoy this one. One bite in, and I understood why it's such a popular menu item.

I also ordered the Acai Bowl, and pairing it alongside the brunch dish worked out well. Having something sweet and refreshing on the side made it nice to alternate bites with the Garlic Butter Eggs, and ordering both together made for a pretty filling meal!

Honestly, I figured brunch would be light and I'd still want something delicious for dinner, but I ended up way more full than expected haha. By the time I finished everything, I was too full to eat dinner!

Why Famous Benny works as a Gwangalli date stop

Still, it was a satisfying time — sitting comfortably in the afternoon, enjoying delicious brunch, and taking in the sunset atmosphere of Gwangalli.

Gwangalli is great for a walk by the sea, and there are plenty of cafés and good restaurants nearby, making it a solid date spot. If you want to add brunch into the mix, Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch is worth a stop.

Of everything I had that day, the Garlic Butter Eggs is what I'd recommend most! Popping the poached egg over the crispy bread and dipping it generously into that delicious sauce is really something. It's a brunch dish, but it's hearty enough to work as a full meal haha.

This was a great place to visit for a relaxed sunset brunch date in Gwangalli, or a delicious meal with friends. If you're looking for a brunch spot in Gwangalli, be sure to try the Garlic Butter Eggs at Famous Benny Gwangalli Branch! I think I'd order the Garlic Butter Eggs again next time too haha.
