Uni kaisendon and yuzu highball in Hapjeong: Makise Hapjeong
In short
Makise Hapjeong is a scoop-and-eat sushi omakase and kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) restaurant in a basement a 7-minute walk from Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul. On this return visit, the uni kaisendon at 25,000 won, 4 extra pieces of salmon at 5,000 won and a yuzu highball at 9,000 won came to 39,000 won, with thick-cut sashimi eaten off a spoon with rice and wasabi. Makise Hapjeong sushi Scoop-and-eat sushi omakase, kaisendon spot
I love seafood so much that I go to sushi places pretty often. Since my company is in Mapo, I make regular trips to the sushi spots nearby, and I want to recommend one that's genuinely delicious. A place where you can eat fresh seafood as sushi! This is Makise Hapjeong, a Seoul kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) restaurant.
I'd been here before but it came to mind again so I revisited haha. It was just as good as I remembered haha. It's also a great spot for a Hapjeong date.

Makise Hapjeong location and how to make a reservation
- 📍 44 Poeun-ro 2na-gil, basement B01, Mapo-gu, Seoul
- 🚇 7-minute walk from Hapjeong Station
- 🚘 No parking
- ✔️ Naver Reservation available (walk-ins possible)

I made a Naver reservation before going. It's a popular spot near Hapjeong Station with a waiting list, haha. I'd recommend booking ahead before you visit!!!

The atmosphere inside, including solo seats
Makise Hapjeong has a variety of seating, from group tables to solo seats~! There were people even in the early evening. I took photos avoiding the spots where other guests were seated, haha.
There's also a clean restroom inside!

The menu at Makise Hapjeong and what I ordered this time
They also have set menus, so you can eat at a reasonable price. The signature dish is kaisendon, and they also sell donburi! For sides there's fried food too, which would make a great drinking snack. There's a good range of alcohol as well — beer, highballs, even tokkuri (sake flask). Totally perfect for dinner after work, haha.
I love uni so much, haha, so I ordered the uni kaisendon!!! (Uni add-on 5,000 won)

There's a tablet at every table so ordering is super convenient, haha.
Today's order Uni kaisendon ₩25,000 +Extra salmon ₩5,000 Yuzu highball ₩9,000 Total ₩39,000

Before the food arrived, I read the guide on how to eat it deliciously. If you mention a memorable sashimi, they'll give you a free piece of sushi — that's amazing, haha, the best ~~~ 💛

There's self-serve soy sauce and pickled radish on the table. Staff bring the soup, which pairs really well with kaisendon!!!
The yuzu highball arrived. Totally recommend this in summer — it quenches your thirst right away, haha. So delicious!!!!
Scoop-and-eat sushi omakase: the uni kaisendon

The uni kaisendon arrived. Super generous ~~~~ and it goes really well with the highball, haha.

Flounder, salmon, tuna, shrimp, uni, squid, ankimo (monkfish liver) and more were piled generously on the rice. You couldn't even see the rice underneath, haha.
(Extra) 4 pieces of salmon, 5,000 won.

Since it's build-your-own sushi, I tried wrapping it in gim (seaweed). Adjusting the rice and whichever sashimi I wanted made it taste even better, haha.

Just put rice and wasabi on a spoon and top it with whichever sashimi you want!!! The sashimi is really thick 💛 I've never seen kaisendon cut this way anywhere else — the texture is totally different!!!

Completely fresh... it'd be great if they sold other sashimi on its own too, not just salmon. It's a bit of a shame that salmon is the only add-on option, ㅠㅠ

Uni kaisendon vs. the basic kaisendon: which to pick
Every single piece of sashimi was delicious. At Makise Hapjeong, the uni kaisendon and the basic kaisendon only differ by whether uni is included, so the basic 20,000-won kaisendon would probably also be a great value 💛
But!!!!!! the uni is honestly just so good... the flavor really jumps up and makes it even tastier. I'd recommend going with the uni kaisendon, haha.
If you're looking for a solo dining spot, a Hapjeong date spot, or a kaisendon spot in Hapjeong, give this place a try!!! The atmosphere is great, the owner is friendly, and above all it's incredibly delicious, haha. I'm planning to go again~
