Diet smoothie café in Yeonsu, Incheon: Ugly Tongue

I stopped by Ugly Tongue in Songdo at a time when it felt awkward to have a meal but I was too hungry for coffee alone. While managing my diet, I wondered what easy option there might be besides salad or chicken breast, so I ordered the Diet smoothie.

Where is Ugly Tongue, and is parking available?

The address is Unit 109, 160-14 Haedoji-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea. The hours posted when I visited were 10:00–20:00, with regular closure on Sundays. You get one hour of free parking when using the building's underground parking lot.

Is there seating for drinking at the café?

There were indoor seats and terrace seats. The space felt neat overall, making it nice for a quick stop and order, and I thought it would also be fine to take a drink away to have while on the move.

What can you choose besides smoothies?

They also sold ice cream and had a wide variety of teas.

What are the ingredients and price of the Diet smoothie?

What caught my eye was that the smoothies were divided not only by flavor but also by purpose. The menu had names such as Anti-aging, Immune, Brain Booster, Diet, Circulation, Relax, and Body Build. I chose the Diet option.

The Diet smoothie includes banana, blueberry, fig, lemon, and more. At ₩15,000 per cup, it initially felt a little expensive. Still, it seemed designed with diet management in mind, so I was curious what it would taste like.

They also sold blue ice cream, sandwiches, premium coffee and lattes, ube lattes, salads, cookies, and bottled water.

A set with a smoothie and sandwich was ₩20,000. There was also a salad combination, but I ordered drinks only that day.

I ordered a Diet smoothie for ₩15,000 and a decaf Americano for ₩5,500. I waited while the drinks were made, and they took a little while to come out.

How sweet was the Diet smoothie, and how did it taste?

At first, I worried it might be hard to drink if it tasted strongly of vegetables or had almost no sweetness. Once I tried it, though, it suited my taste well. It felt especially delicious among the blueberry smoothies I have had.

It was different from the very sweet smoothies at typical franchise cafés. Rather than having an intense sweetness, it let the ingredients' flavors come through. It may feel a little plain if you like sweet drinks, but I thought it would suit people who prefer less sweetness.

When having a meal feels like too much but going without anything leaves you hungry, I thought it could be a good option to take the edge off. Still, I did not drink it expecting weight-loss effects simply because it was called a Diet smoothie.

How were the takeout drinks and decaf Americano?

I asked for the drinks to be put in a carrier and drank them on my way home. The cup holders were set out for customers to take and put on themselves.

I added ₩500 to make the Americano decaf. I liked the coffee flavor in the decaf version too.

Would I want to have it again despite the price?

It was not an inexpensive smoothie based on price alone. But because it tasted different from a typical sweet drink, I felt it would be fine to choose it with the mindset of having an acai bowl. When diet-friendly meals start to feel repetitive, I would like to choose it once in a while. It also made me want to try a different kind of smoothie next time.
