A pretty dessert cake always makes my heart flutter.

It had been a while, so I went on a warm, sweet date at a pretty dessert café in Ingye-dong, near Suwon City Hall Station.

What kind of café is Diaz Cake Boutique in Ingye-dong?

2nd floor or 4th floor: which is better for a date?

I hear the 4th floor of the building has a separate Diaz café with big sofa seats and a terrace,

but we found the 2nd-floor Diaz Cake Boutique quieter, cozier and somehow more private, so we decided to have our date here!

The cozy sofa seats suit 2–4 people, and the big-window seats have everything from round tables to group tables, so it looked good for bigger parties too.

Ordering whole cakes and custom cakes at Diaz Cake Boutique

At Diaz Cake Boutique you can pick from a variety of flavors by the slice, and custom cake orders are possible too. Best of all, it's fun just to look at the gorgeous whole cakes,

They looked so colorful and mouthwatering that I nearly ate the whole showcase..

If you want to give a lettering cake or a pretty, special handmade cake for an occasion, I recommend the whole cakes at Diaz Cake Boutique, the café by Suwon City Hall Station.

It's so famous and popular that during our stay, quite a lot of customers kept coming in for delivery or takeout.

And the staff were really, truly so kind, with big smiles! Soft and gentle, just right for the pretty desserts and the café mood, so it felt like I'd been staying inside a fairy tale.

Fortnum & Mason Darjeeling: strain the leaves from the teapot

The Fortnum & Mason Darjeeling at Diaz Cake Boutique is ₩8,900, a black tea with fruity and floral-herb notes. I know Fortnum & Mason because so many of my friends love tea time.

The tea leaves are left in the teapot, so you can't just pour it all out like I did... so uncultured;; hahaha

Full of fragrant floral-herb aroma with a subtle fruity note too, a slightly bitter black tea that's perfect with dessert.

You have to strain it like this before drinking. I eat slowly, so the leaves in the teapot steeped too strong and it got quite bitter, but when I told the staff, they filled a whole mug with hot water so I could pour it back into the teapot and drink it.

Don't like acidic coffee? The iced Americano at Diaz Cake Boutique

The iced Americano at Diaz Cake Boutique is ₩5,500 and has a fragrant, clean acidity. My boyfriend (nicknamed Bamsongi, "chestnut burr") and I are both a bit unrefined.. we can't really drink coffee brewed from acidic beans, but

even with its acidity, the coffee here was really, really good. A generous amount, no bitterness! A perfect Americano, the first one I've had in ages!

It was so good that we had two cups, but that's our secret.

Which fruits are in the Fruit Montang slice cake?

The Fruit Montang slice cake at Diaz Cake Boutique is ₩11,900, a fresh cream cake loaded with premium fruit, a treat to look at and to eat.

The best-looking cake in the shop, the Fruit Montang slice. Kiwi, gold kiwi, grapefruit, blueberry, fig, orange, Shine Muscat grape, mango and apple mango, wow! It's a fresh cream cake with everything piled in. (*Fruits may vary by season.)

Even to our untrained eyes, the look and taste showed real skill. It melts softly in your mouth, and every fruit is fresh and tangy.

I never knew such a pretty, delicious café existed near Suwon City Hall. I'd definitely recommend it to any friend who loves dessert.
