In short

Milbat Bakery Pyeongchon (밀밭제빵소 평촌점) is a bakery near Pyeongchon Station in Anyang, Gyeonggi, that bakes and sells everything on the same day. On a first visit with her fiancé, the writer picked five items (napjaki flatbread, a cream bun, a soboro streusel bun, a Butter Coconut scone and a raspberry roll) and tried the cream bun, filled with rich cream, and the raspberry roll, with real raspberries to bite into, first. Verdict: Milbat Bakery Pyeongchon is a Pyeongchon Station bakery with a wide range of bread that tastes as good as hoped.

What kind of bread does Milbat Bakery make?

Milbat Bakery bakes and sells on the same day. For a bakery, it also has a surprisingly impressive list of awards! They say they use good ingredients and natural sourdough starter, cold-aged, to make healthy bread you can enjoy without feeling weighed down, haha.

Inside, tongs, trays and hygiene paper are set out at the entrance. You just stroll around the shop and pick out the breads you like, one at a time, no pressure, haha.

As soon as I walked in, I did a quick scan of all the displayed breads, lol. There were far more kinds than I expected! Familiar breads you see everywhere, plus breads you can only find at Milbat Bakery, haha.

Mammoth bread, Gyeongju hwangnan bread and nut jeonbyeong

On another side there were mammoth bread, walnut cakes, Gyeongju hwangnan bread (a Gyeongju specialty), sesame gangjeong and nut jeonbyeong (nut-topped crisp wafers), all generously loaded with healthy-looking ingredients! I was especially curious how the jeonbyeong piled with nuts would taste, haha.

Financiers, muffins and banana bread

On the opposite side were plain and chocolate financiers and muffins, bakery items that go well with coffee! There was also a bread simply called "Banana", which is cute just from the name, haha. It's banana-flavored and looked nice and sweet, so it seemed fine as a snack for kids too!

Basics like handmade red bean bun and sobo bread

This shelf held the basic breads everyone loves, young and old! The ones you always end up picking one or two of at a bakery, lol. Handmade red bean buns, red bean cream buns, sobo bread (crumble-topped bun) and more. Honestly, I think a place that does these basics well is a truly great bakery, so we picked a sobo bread too, haha.

Salt bread, mentaiko salt bread and black sesame twist

Here were salt bread and mentaiko salt bread, which I love! There was also a black sesame twist: a non-fried twisted doughnut made with 100% rice flour and coated in plenty of black sesame powder. That looked so good too...!!

How did the cream bun and raspberry roll taste?

The cream bun at Milbat Bakery isn't the usual light custard puff; it was packed with rich, smooth cream. We tried two first: the cream bun my fiancé was curious about and the raspberry roll I was most curious about! The cream bun is a familiar item, but it was much tastier than I expected, haha.

The raspberry roll was also full of fresh, smooth raspberry cream! You can feel the raspberries lightly in the cream, which made it even better, haha. The roll sponge itself was really soft with a strong aroma, which I loved. It went really well with a sweet coffee too!
