I visited BYWAY BAKERS, a well-known café near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station.

A 5-minute walk from Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station, this café was perfect for studying or getting some laptop work done.

Walking into BYWAY BAKERS, you're greeted by shelves packed with a huge variety of bread.

Living up to its reputation as a famous café near Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station, everything looks mouthwatering just to see.

From the butter tteok (rice cake) I love to savory bagels.

And salty salt bread, which comes out at set times of day.

And financiers in various flavors, crisp outside and moist inside.

With so much variety, I spent a long time deciding, as usual.

Sometimes I wonder whether the tongs used to grab bread are actually clean.

But here the tongs were set out sterilized, so I could eat with peace of mind. Right next to them, the new wakppu salt bread was on display.

The café space at the Yeongdeungpo-gu Office Station BYWAY BAKERS location is really spacious.

There's a signature BYWAY interior feature — a large table surrounded by bookshelves that seats around 15 people.

They also sell cute little branded goods.

Since I visited after lunchtime on a weekend, it was crowded, so I couldn't capture every corner of the space.

There were several bar-style window tables great for laptop work, plus plenty of group seating near the entrance.

How the chicken breast sandwich and peach wakppu tasted

I considered getting coffee, but this caught my eye instead.

The color was pretty and it wasn't too sweet, so it wasn't overwhelming.

I picked this chicken breast sandwich along with the wakppu salt bread, and it was better value than expected — packed full of chicken breast, perfect for a brunch.

Instead of plain, ordinary sliced bread, it used a grain bread.

It was savory and clean-tasting. The tomatoes and vegetables were fresh too — better than a lot of dedicated sandwich shops.

I got too full to finish the wakppu salt bread, so I packed it to take home — and I wondered why they gave me disposable gloves, but there was a good reason.

When I split the wakppu, which was really packed full, in two, the filling spilled out — salty yet with whole chunks of peach tucked throughout, both tangy

and, with a chocolate flavor up top, sweet too. It's so filling that eating it all alone is tough.
