I was looking for a café with a nice mood near Pyeongtaek Station and ended up at Hoppydopi in Tongbok-dong. ☕️ There are plenty of cafés around Pyeongtaek Station, but finding one where you can sit quietly and enjoy dessert too is surprisingly tricky. Hoppydopi is near Tongbok Market, and its interior caught my eye right away because it's a little different from the usual café.

The desserts in the showcase were especially unusual, and I spent a long time deciding what to order. Today I'll walk you through the atmosphere inside this Tongbok-dong café in Pyeongtaek, the menu prices, and the desserts I actually ordered.

What does Hoppydopi look like from outside?
Hoppydopi (호피도피) is a Tongbok-dong café with big glass windows that stand out. The building's exterior is light brick, and the words "Hoffee Doffee" are written large on the glass.

You can see right into the café from outside, so it catches your eye even if you're just passing by. There's a small table and chairs in front of the entrance, plus potted plants, which gives it a cute, cozy feel. If you're looking for a café near Tongbok Market or the Tongbokcheon stream, it's worth a look.

Hoppydopi interior: a cozy café with orange floors
The first thing you notice when you step inside is the orange floor. When people say "cozy café" you usually picture wood tones or white, but Hoppydopi pairs a reddish-orange floor with light wood, and it feels refreshingly different.
The ceiling is exposed and the lighting is simple, so the whole place feels clean yet full of personality. The coffee-making area is open, which gave it that lively café energy too.

On one wall there's a Hoppydopi character poster that looks cute and a little vintage. The props scattered around the café were fun to look at, too.

Is there a good spot to read near Pyeongtaek Station?
One of my favorite spots at Hoppydopi was the window seating. Tables line the wide windows, and a long bench runs along the wall. You can see the street of Tongbok-dong outside, and it feels open rather than stuffy. Further in, there's also a bar table with books on display.
It's a nice place to sit on a high chair, look out the window and sip coffee, and it looked good for passing time with a book or magazine. Another area has round tables and chairs of all different designs.

Small plants, frames and props sit on the glass shelves, and it all blends in naturally instead of feeling overdone. The colorful knitted items were memorable too. From the hand-knitted cushion on a chair to little bags and trinkets, these details seem to give Hoppydopi its own personality. If you want a café near Pyeongtaek Station to spend time alone or chat leisurely with a friend, keep it in mind.

What are Hoppydopi's menu and prices?
Hoppydopi has quite a variety of coffee. There's the basics like americano and latte, plus signature coffees, Einspänner and cold brew. The ones that stood out were the Hoppy Latte and the Dopi Brew.

Signature menu prices
- Hoppy Latte ₩5,500
- Dopi Brew ₩6,000
- Fresh orange juice ₩6,700
- Fresh Green juice ₩6,500
- Peach Blanc ₩5,700
The Hoppy Latte is a signature latte made with espresso and milk, and the Dopi Brew is an orange cold brew. Beyond coffee there's a good range of fruit juices, ades and teas, so non-coffee drinkers have plenty to choose from. Decaf is available, and you can swap to oat milk or lactose-free milk, which is good to know.

What's in Hoppydopi's dessert showcase?
The Hoppydopi showcase held several kinds of baked goods: salt bread, egg tarts, tigres, focaccia and more. The showcase caught my eye as much as the coffee menu did, so if you're looking for a dessert café in Pyeongtaek, this part is worth a look.
The salt bread comes not only plain but also in versions with jam or butter, so there's a wide choice. Basque cheesecake and banana bread were also listed, which should interest anyone hunting for cake in Pyeongtaek. There are also set menus pairing an americano with a bakery item, so check those if you want coffee and dessert together.

4 items I ordered at Hoppydopi
I ordered four items at Hoppydopi this time.
- Fresh orange juice
- Peach Blanc
- Original Tigre
- Original Egg Tart
The bright orange juice, the soft creamy drink and the golden-baked desserts went well together.
Fresh orange juice ₩6,700
First, the fresh orange juice! It comes in a clear glass, and the vivid orange color stood out. It has ice, so it's nice and refreshing, and unlike an ordinary orange-flavored drink, it's genuinely a fresh fruit juice, which I liked.

I'd recommend it if you love zesty fruit drinks or want something light instead of coffee. It was an especially good pairing with a sweet dessert.
Peach Blanc ₩5,700
The Peach Blanc looked unique from the start. A peach-colored base sits at the bottom of the glass, with a milky drink layered on top. The colors blending softly between the ice cubes were pretty.

As the name suggests, it's a peach-based drink, and it felt quite different from an ordinary latte. Worth a look if you want a gentle fruit drink rather than coffee.

Original Egg Tart ₩3,000
The dessert that caught my eye most this time was the Original Egg Tart. Unlike the round egg tart you'd normally imagine, its ruffled pastry shaped like a flower was really distinctive.

The outside is made of many thin, layered flakes, and the center is packed with golden-baked custard filling. The deeply browned top looked delicious too. When I cut it in half with a knife, the inside was thickly filled with yellow custard cream.
The pastry layers were really impressive. The outside is crispy and crumbles like pie, while the inside is soft custard, so you get two different textures. Every time I cut off a bite-sized piece, the thin pastry flakes crumbled away, which was striking.
The custard looked moist and soft, which made a lovely contrast with the crispy shell. If you're hunting for a great egg tart in Pyeongtaek, take a look at Hoppydopi's Original Egg Tart.

Original Tigre ₩2,800
Next, the Original Tigre! A tigre is a French baked treat (small almond-flour cake), known for its chocolate-filled center. Hoppydopi's Original Tigre also had rich chocolate in the middle.
It's a small size that's easy to pick up and eat by hand. The outside is baked golden brown, with little grains that look like sugar crystals along the edges. The chocolate in the center was glossy and smoothly filled.

When I cut it in half, the dense cake texture and the chocolate in the center were clearly distinct. If the egg tart is a combo of crispy pastry and soft filling, the tigre is a dense baked cake enjoyed with rich chocolate.

Definitely one for chocolate lovers! The size isn't overwhelming either, so it works well alongside a drink.

Is Hoppydopi, the dessert café near Pyeongtaek Station, worth a visit?
Hoppydopi in Tongbok-dong, Pyeongtaek, had plenty to look at, from the interior to the range of desserts. Above all, unlike the usual white-toned cafés, the orange floor, wood and vintage furniture blended into a distinctive atmosphere that left an impression.
I liked the seating along the big windows and the window bar table with books on it. I also liked that for dessert you can choose items with different charms, like the Original Egg Tart and the tigre. The egg tart especially stood out for its many layers of pastry and thick custard filling.

If you're looking for a café recommendation near Pyeongtaek Station or want dessert near Tongbok Market, add Hoppydopi to your list. I hope this helps anyone searching for a café near the Tongbokcheon stream in Pyeongtaek, a cozy café, or a handmade dessert café. ☕🧡
