Sunday jokbal dinner in Bucheon after a weekend sell-out: Kkalkkali
In short
Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is a jokbal (braised pork trotters) restaurant a 5-minute walk from the north side of Bucheon Station in Bucheon, Gyeonggi. After the jokbal sold out on a weekend visit, the writer returned on a Sunday at 7:30pm and ordered the medium half fried, half original jokbal for ₩42,000. Juicy original jokbal, crispy fried jokbal and the free opening-event fruit makguksu (buckwheat noodles) made a perfect combination at Kkalkkali Jokbal.

Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch, a jokbal spot near Bucheon Station. I visited Kkalkkali Jokbal's directly run Bucheon branch, where you can have chewy jokbal (braised pork trotters) and crispy fried jokbal in one go 🐷✨ The original jokbal is moist and tender, while the fried jokbal is crunchy outside and chewy inside, so half-and-half is perfect. Let me introduce this Bucheon Station jokbal favorite!

Getting there from Bucheon Station: a Sunday 7:30pm visit

Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is a 5-minute walk from the north exit of Bucheon Station, toward Bucheon University! Ever since it opened, every time I walked past there were always lots of people, even late at night! And then...!! Last weekend I went to eat there and ran into the jokbal sold-out issue....!! So this time I visited on a Sunday at 7:30pm!

Free handmade fruit makguksu (spicy cold noodles) as an opening event!!

The inside has plenty of tables, so I think it would work for groups, gatherings and company dinners! There's also a TV on one side, so it seems like a good place to eat while watching baseball or soccer!

The restroom is inside the restaurant and it's clean.
Menu and ordering: half fried, half original, medium, ₩42,000

The menu at Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is varied: jokbal, fried jokbal, half-and-half jokbal, spicy jokbal, bossam (boiled pork wraps), and set menus. We wanted to try a few flavors together, so we ordered the Kkalkkali half fried, half original (medium, ₩42,000). They also have sides like rice balls and doenjang rice!

You order with the QR code on the table!
Side dishes and the free fruit makguksu

The side dishes are warm bean sprout soup, seasoned chives, radish kimchi, ssam (wrap) vegetables, garlic, chili peppers, pickled onions, marinated shrimp (saeujang), and ssamjang (wrap sauce). It's a lineup that goes well with jokbal and you can eat it however you like, so good!! The bean sprout soup in particular was so delicious! My friend even got a refill and finished two bowls haha!!

The free makguksu from the opening event! Sweet and tangy sauce with lots of vegetables on top, and eaten with jokbal it's seriously insanely delicious!! The noodles are springy and there's plenty of sauce, so it's great with a slice of jokbal on top.
Original jokbal vs. fried jokbal: a taste comparison

The original and fried jokbal, the looks and the smell are crazy! And the portion is huge!

The original jokbal's moist, chewy texture was so much better than at other jokbal places!

The fried jokbal keeps the outside extra crispy, so even though it's the same jokbal it has a totally different charm!!! The skin is chewy and the lean meat is tender, so it's tasty on its own and works well in a wrap too.

Put jokbal, seasoned chives, garlic and chili on a lettuce leaf and take a bite, it's so good I kept exclaiming haha!!

For me it tastes best eaten together with the makguksu and jokbal!! The tangy sauce wakes up your appetite, so I never got tired of the jokbal!

Delicious jokbal with soju and cola, cheers haha!!
Wrap-up: why you should order half-and-half

Kkalkkali Jokbal Bucheon Branch is so satisfying because you can enjoy original and fried jokbal at once! The chewy classic jokbal is great and the crispy fried jokbal is super delicious too, so definitely order the half-and-half! Add the makguksu and the combo gets even better, so I recommend it to anyone looking for a jokbal spot near Bucheon Station 🐷💕
