This time I visited a Gwangalli brunch café with an incredible ocean view, in Minrak-dong, Busan — "Working Holiday Minrak"! It's a spot where you can eat brunch while looking out at a gorgeous stretch of Gwangan Bridge. Let me introduce it!

What is on the menu at Working Holiday Minrak, and what we ordered

Here's the menu! It's mostly Western-style food — brunch, pizza, pasta. Some dishes were classic, but there were also quite European-leaning options, which I liked. I ordered the salmon eggs Benedict, squid fry, and fricassee pasta! For the salmon eggs Benedict, you can choose between two types of bread, so keep that in mind~

Being a Gwangalli brunch café, they also had a wide range of drinks, including beer and wine. I heard this place is also known for pizza, so I think I'll have to try it next time. There was a kiosk outside for ordering, but you could also order by looking at this paper menu at the counter.

Gwangan Bridge through the picture windows: what the café feels like

The thing about Working Holiday Minrak is that Gwangan Bridge is right there through a full picture window! Maybe that's why so many foreign tourists come here too — with so many international visitors coming to Busan these days, it almost felt like I was overseas! An unexpectedly nice, unusual atmosphere.

The interior felt so exotic that even though it's in Korea, it gave off overseas-travel vibes. There were a lot of foreign guests too, given the Western menu, which added to that feeling. The air conditioning inside was really comfortable and cool. Even though it rained heavily that day, there wasn't a hint of that damp, stuffy feeling.

The view of Gwangalli through the window. Seating comes in various types, and the window seats face the sea, so the view is amazing! But because of that, seats can be competitive, so it's really worth booking ahead.

How the salmon eggs Benedict, squid fry and fricassee pasta tasted

Our order arrived, and we added a Terra draft beer — cold and delicious~ How do you resist a daytime beer at an ocean-view brunch café(?)

The salmon eggs Benedict was really good. The sauce was great, and the salmon portion was generous too, which worked well with the bread. There was also avocado, so it gave a healthy kind of fullness — great for brunch. The egg was a perfect soft-boiled texture, exactly how I like it.

The squid fry was crispy, and the batter had a slight spicy kick, which I liked. It was well seasoned enough that you didn't even need the dipping sauce, though the sauce itself was a bit sweet, which made for a nice sweet-savory combo. This was my first time trying this kind of pasta with such an unusual noodle — nice bite, nice feel in the mouth. I was satisfied!

The fricassee pasta seemed to have chicken and mushrooms in it, and since you can adjust the spice level, I asked for it slightly spicy. The sauce was thick and rich, and the seasoning was excellent too. All the dishes came out together, which made it easy to eat as a group! Since you get a buzzer and have to pick the food up at the counter yourself, everything seems to come out at once — but honestly I liked that better.
