What was inconvenient about my previous cleansing routine?
My skin is dry, but it gets oily over time and can also feel sensitive. On days when I wore makeup, I used several steps—a cleanser, oil, and foam cleanser—and my skin felt tight underneath after washing, so I had to apply cream right away.
I had felt that low-irritation products did not remove makeup thoroughly enough, while products with a strong cleansing feel tended to leave my skin tight afterward. So I looked for a combination that could separate makeup removal from the final cleanse.
How did I use the cleansing balm and foam cleanser?
First, I scooped out the black balm and rubbed it over my face. It felt like it melted softly, like sorbet, and I used it to remove my makeup. I separately massaged the area around my nose, where blackheads had been bothering me.
I then finished with the foam cleanser. The lather felt rich, and for me, it cleansed gently without feeling irritating.
How did my skin feel after washing?
After using both products together, the tightness I had felt before seemed less noticeable. Looking in the mirror, I felt that my skin looked clearer and smoother, which I was happy with.
Skin reactions can vary, however. Because I was concerned about both makeup residue and post-wash tightness, using the cleansing balm followed by the foam cleanser worked well for me.
