My hair had grown really long and messy, and it had been quite a while since my last perm. I regularly dye and perm it, so the damage was bad. While looking into repair perms, I ended up getting the Re-born perm from Vice Director Gaeul at Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch (박준뷰티랩 강남점), a hair salon near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam :)

Since it's near Exit 5 of Sinnonhyeon Station, it's easy to get to, and there are staff who can communicate in foreign languages, so there were a lot of foreign customers too!

This was my return visit. The interior is clean and there are lots of designers, so booking is easy. And above all, you can't ignore a big name, right..! Park Jun Beauty Lab? I visit with trust.

They serve welcome tea when you arrive. This time I got the ribbon repair perm and a layered C-curl perm from Vice Director Gaeul.

How does the ribbon repair perm go step by step?

The ribbon repair perm at Park Jun Beauty Lab Gangnam Branch starts with a Shiseido shampoo and steam care. It softens the hair, fills it with protein and even removes buildup from inside the strands! They also steam the hair before perming so it doesn't get damaged, so hair care started right from the beginning.

There were lots of drinks to choose from. I asked for an iced tea, and they even gave me snacks! Cute handwritten notes on the cup holder 👍🏻

I came in a top with a collar, and the assistant took great care to keep it clean, with wrapping plus a double layer of padding.

My hair was very damaged from frequent perms and dyeing, so they applied undiluted protein treatment to look after it. The ribbon repair perm clearly keeps damage to a minimum, so I recommend it for anyone with poor hair condition.

Overgrown, messy layered C-curl: starting over with a cut

I'd already had a layered C-curl perm, but my hair had grown out so much that it looked really messy. She trimmed off the damaged ends while giving me a layered cut, and Vice Director Gaeul's skill is really good. The texturizing on the cut is so good.

After the cut, we moved seats and she rolled the perm rods. I got No. 25 rods! Right afterward the waves look strong, but it's not a tight, frizzy perm.

Crown magic for half-curly hair, volume magic for flipping bangs

Vice Director Gaeul spotted my half-curly hair during the consultation, straightened the crown with a flat iron, and set my flipping bangs with volume magic. My half-curly hair is severe, so without straightening the curl comes up, and she caught the problem without my even mentioning it and customized it one-on-one.

What were the ribbon repair perm results, and how long did it take?

The result... ! Isn't it so pretty? I did nothing special, just dried it with a hair dryer, and this pretty hair came out.. ❤️ It's not hugely different from my old hair, but the difference in detail is definitely big.

The curls are natural, I love the cut.. endless thanks to Vice Director Gaeul for doing my hair so beautifully. I was told to allow 3 hours for the repair perm, but it was done in 2 hours!! She's that fast and really skilled. Quick, deft moves, you can feel the professionalism.

Get a great photo with your pretty new hair! Side note: the branch manager is so kind and so pretty. I thought she was a celebrity....

Does it hold up with just blow-drying at home?

It's a repair perm, so far from damage, my hair is much, much better than before the perm! They put in plenty of nourishment, so my hair is soft.

Usually hair only looks good the day you leave the salon, and styling it at home is a total letdown, but when I just roughly blow-dry it, it looks pretty like I styled it!
