What is Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch?

Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch (짚불태백 동탄본점) is a BBQ restaurant in Yeongcheon-dong, Dongtan (1F, 11-8 Jisan 2-gil, Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do), open daily 12:00 to 23:00 (last order 22:30). Parking, reservations, birthday perks, groups and paid corkage are all available, and I've written up the parking details with photos below.

Today I was meeting my boyfriend's friend and his wife, so we came to Dongtan and happened to visit Jipbul Taebaek. I loved that you can have both beef and pork in one place~

The meat is grilled over burning straw, so it's full of that smoky straw aroma, and the quality was so good we were all completely satisfied! The couple we met said it's the best meat they've had in Dongtan..?!! Hehe. It's a Dongtan beef BBQ place you can trust.

What cut is Jipbul Taebaek's signature udaegalbi?

The signature dish is udaegalbi (우대갈비, prime beef ribs). It's said to be the flower rib meat from ribs number 6 to 8, the tastiest part of the beef rib, and here it comes as seasoned flower rib meat. All the meat is pre-seared before it arrives, so you also get grilling service: staff grill the seared meat again at your table. It seems perfect for couples' get-togethers, group dinners and company outings like ours!

What else is on the menu besides udaegalbi, and are there events?

If you join the receipt review event, they give you a free guacamole tortilla, so join if you like wrapping your meat~ Besides regular pork and beef, the main menu is varied, with pork skin, Hanwoo yukhoe (beef tartare), Hanwoo beef sashimi and handmade sausages.

Basic side dishes and Taebaek kimchi

The basic side dishes are generous, and there's no self-serve bar: if you run out, staff bring more, so you just sit and eat. The kimchi is Taebaek kimchi, made with highland cabbage from Taebaek, they say. Maybe that's why we refilled the kimchi 3 times.. haha. It's good on its own and also grilled in the meat fat.

Straw-fire searing and the owner's fire show

We ordered both beef and pork, and all of it gets seared over straw fire like this. The signature is udaegalbi, and I understood why the moment it arrived,,, hehe. Compared with udaegalbi at other beef restaurants, there's more lean meat and the bones are huge.

We even got a flashy fire show, a real treat for the eyes. Jipbul Taebaek is near Libera CC (golf club) in Yeongcheon-dong, so there were lots of golfers and group diners.

After ordering, go to the front of the shop and you can watch the owner sear the meat over straw fire himself. While we ate, staff noticed empty side dishes and refilled them without us asking, which was so nice~ The service is amazing, and everyone was so kind that we were in a good mood the whole meal.

How much did two couples order at Jipbul Taebaek?

Two couples, 4 people, ordered 5 portions of meat. Here's the order.

With 4 of us and 5 portions, everyone was full and ate so happily haha. We were stuffed enough that we didn't need any sides~ Next time, when I come back with just my boyfriend, I'll order 2 portions of meat plus a stew or fried rice.

At Jipbul Taebaek, staff grill the straw-seared meat at your table and even refill the side dishes, so you really never have to leave your seat. For gatherings or company dinners, nobody has to get up, which is so convenient. If you're planning a group meal in Dongtan, book Jipbul Taebaek.

The nicely grilled meat is moved onto our small plates for us, which put me in a good mood the whole meal.

They also make tteokssam (rice cake wraps) one by one: Taebaek kimchi with rice cake and meat. My boyfriend and I love rice cake, so we really enjoyed them.

What birthday perks does Jipbul Taebaek offer?

For birthday guests, Jipbul Taebaek serves free yukhoe decorated with sparkler candles, and everyone celebrates together. Suddenly the staff counted down 3, 2, 1 and a birthday song started, and that's what it was~ You get congratulated by every table,, haha. Outgoing people would love it~ And you get free yukhoe too.

Seating layout and corkage

The tables at Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch are all 4-person tables, and there's also 8-person seating, so quite a few tables were group gatherings. The interior is spacious, so it's comfortable to eat in.

Jipbul Taebaek is a beef and pork specialist in Yeongcheon-dong, Dongtan. It's well known as a standout in the 11-ja (row-shaped) shopping strip and is near Dongtan's Libera CC, so it's a good place for a group after golf. Corkage is possible, so wine or sake lovers can bring their own favorites~ Corkage costs extra, so please ask the restaurant for the price.

Where to park at Jipbul Taebaek Dongtan Flagship Branch

There are 3 free parking spots in front of the restaurant. But,, when I went, it was full and I couldn't park there. Luckily there's a public roadside parking lot right across the street, so parking was easy! It's free for the first 1 hour 30 minutes, so parking was free for the length of our meal. You can also use the paid Deokhoe P Tower lot, a 2-minute walk away, and they give one parking ticket (2 hours) per table, so there's no need to worry about parking at this Dongtan restaurant.
