Seomyeon pizza place with a 1-hour vacation-season wait: Pickles

Woohoo, a date in Jeonpo after ages, with my desert fox! It was hot, but I felt light as a feather, free as a bird again for once! (Okay, actually I felt heavy, but the mood is what counts, hehe.) So to celebrate, we visited Pickles, a great date spot near Seomyeon in Busan!

How long is the wait at Pickles in Seomyeon during vacation season?

We went to Pickles in Jeonpo-dong on a weekday in holiday season, and the wait was almost an hour. We only got in close to 3pm. Wow, a wait on a weekday! I guess lots of people from other regions were visiting Busan for the holidays, boohoo.

Is there parking at Pickles?

Pickles has no parking lot of its own, so you'll probably need a nearby paid lot. It's at 62-14 Seojeon-ro 46beon-gil, Busanjin-gu, Busan, on the 1st floor.

Inside Pickles in Jeonpo: atmosphere and homemade pickles

The inside has a woody look, and we landed at an open-style seat. I was just grateful we got to eat at all... Lots of wood, and the interior is still pretty, as always.

Oh, with a name like Pickles, I guess they really make their own pickles. They tasted super clean and fresh, different from store-bought pickles! Satisfied.

Pickles menu and the half-and-half pizza and pasta set price

The Pickles menu is divided mainly into pasta, pizza and salads, and there are set menus too. So, shall we order, quick quick? Here's what we ordered from the set menu.

• Half-and-half pizza and pasta set (₩39,000) - jambon-beurre and bacon cheddar pizza, puttanesca pasta
• Coke Zero (₩2,500)

How does the puttanesca pasta at Pickles taste?

Ooh, our Coke Zero came out fast. It was so hot that even a Coke Zero was a joy!!!

Eek, and finally our gorgeous Pickles spread arrived! The half-and-half pizza and pasta set, I just can't resist, hehe.

The puttanesca pasta at Pickles is an oil-based pasta with anchovies, olives and cherry tomatoes, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. A unusual combo. It tasted both familiar and new, and then I realized, oh, that's the anchovy! The noodles are flat, a bit like kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), and really good. Oil pasta is always tasty and doesn't make you gain weight, hehe.

Jambon-beurre or bacon cheddar pizza: which half was better?

The half-and-half pizza at Pickles was half jambon-beurre (ham and butter) and half bacon cheddar. The cheesy crust ends were totally my thing!

Eek, the jambon-beurre pizza wasn't the stretchy kind, while the bacon cheddar had a decent amount of cheese and stretched out nicely. So bacon cheddar was my pick. It had quite a lot of cheese on it.

The ham on the jambon-beurre pizza wasn't salty at all, milder than I expected, which surprised me. As for the bacon cheddar, what can I say... See the cheese melting down a little? And the pizza crust ends at Pickles were really good. They were so tasty that we wiped the plate clean.

Pickles in Seomyeon verdict: skip the vacation season

Waiting in the heat at Pickles in Jeonpo was a bit rough, but once we ate, we had a quick, delicious meal. I think I'll go outside of holiday season next time, hehe.
