Gwangalli pizzeria lunch date, Freewill Pizza's 3rd shop: Extra Mile

What kind of pizzeria is Extra Mile in Gwangalli?

Extra Mile is a new pizza and pasta place in Gwangalli, and I heard it's the third shop from Jeonpo's Freewill Pizza, one of my favorites, and Upper East Bakery. I figured the taste had to be guaranteed, so I ran straight to Gwangalli for a lunch date at this brand-new spot ^.^

Where is Extra Mile, and is there parking?

Come out of Gwangan Station Exit 5, go straight, and when you see the GS gas station, turn left and head down. It's right next to the Gwangnam police substation (Busan Suyeong Police Station), and there's no parking. There's no huge sign; it looks like a pretty, tidy house, so the atmosphere was nice from the outside.

Extra Mile's interior and seating

The inside is warm and cozy, so it felt comfortable. There are tables for 2 and 4 plus bar seats, so a Gwangalli date, a family meal or eating solo all work fine.

Watching pizzas made in the open kitchen

The kitchen is open, so you can see all the cooking, and it was super tidy and no-fuss, zip zip zip. While the pizza bakes you can chat on your date, and watching the kitchen is great too.

The interior is stylish and pretty everywhere you look >_<

Extra Mile menu and Classic Combo set

There are lots of pizzas, and they aren't the usual ones you see everywhere; they have Extra Mile's own character, so I agonized over what to order for ages. Half and half is possible, so you can enjoy two kinds at once! There are plenty of pastas and sides too, so ordering a set lets you try several things.

Coloring table mats to pass the wait

The table is neatly set, and the paper table mat turned out to be a coloring sheet. While waiting after ordering, I colored away happily (a seagull turned into a pigeon... but pigeon feet aren't yellow, haha)

Food is made and baked as soon as you order, so it takes a little while. But with something to play with, the wait wasn't hard at all.

How was the hot honey pepperoni and potato half-and-half pizza?

For the pizza, I ordered half hot honey pepperoni and half potato.

Hot honey pepperoni pizza

The hot honey pepperoni is a spicy, salty pepperoni pizza topped with mascarpone and ricotta cheese.

The pickled chili peppers you bite into here and there add a nice tangy heat, and the cheese covers the spiciness, so it isn't very hot, just right. It's a sweet-spicy kind of feel that even people who can't handle spice can enjoy. It has a more varied flavor than regular pepperoni pizza and the balance is good, so it felt distinctive and delicious.

Potato pizza made with Dubaek potatoes

Extra Mile's potato pizza is a premium potato pizza made with Dubaek potatoes from Gangwon-do.

Thin potato slices are laid over the pizza first, then topped with thinly shredded fried potato, so the potato flavor is richer and you get two textures at once. Behind the potato and the sweet cream sauce with truffle oil, you also taste the salty bacon underneath the potatoes, and it was honestly just really good. As a potato lover, I was so happy ^.^

And the dough itself is chewy, so it's perfect for people who like chewy, fluffy bread. You'll finish even the crust.

How was the white ragu pasta?

The white ragu pasta looks great, piled high with beef and pork ragu.

The white sauce is creamy and smooth, and it paired well with the spicy hot honey pepperoni pizza.

The thick noodles hold plenty of ragu sauce, and the tender, chewy texture was even better, so good.
